What do you think will be the main focus of the 2008 U. S. election? Among some concerns could be:

1) the environment
2) health care
3) illegal immigration
4) the ecconomy
5) war on terror
6) Social Security issues

There could be more.... Your thoughts?

It's really not necessary to get into a "bashing" contest...just curious how others see the main concerns facing the U.S.

thanks~

I'm not American but feel that any govs first priorities should be health care and education and taking measures to try to end homelessness.
There's no reason for people to do without in this day and age,it should be a right and not a privilege.

The war on terror and illegal immigration are the only things the federal government should be involved in. Since we already have Social Insecurity, it needs to be addressed as well.

my thoughts are the 2008 election will be issues that our politicians cannot really control or change....
With saying that ,it eliminates healthcare, education social security.

As for the economy well they think they have that under control it'll just take 10 to 20 years to repair.
So including Ships observation and the rest of the list those will be the major issues.

the first 3 will be your basic political rhetoric but the last ones will consume the capitals time and resources.sigh

Number 1 should be CROOKED POLITICIANS!!! and if they were adressed and removed then we might be on the road to correct the rest of the problems..

anyways i think that health care, educatuion, and either lower the cost of living or raise the min wage to something that is reasonable, and to stop taxing the heck outta people. i know taxes are needed to pay off and for the stupid things the gov't does but honestly i think we are being way over taxed. jmo

I wish the most serious issue to be discussed and even resolved would be health care but as long as we are still in Iraq getting our troops home needs to be our priority.

I'd have to agree with you. The federal government's primary responsiblity is to provide for the "common defense" of the United States.

The issue that will come into play next spring will be illegal immigration. The masses are getting fed up with the whole issue.
Politicians will be forced to take a stand on it...and won't be able to wobble back and forth as they have over the past few weeks.

All these other issues are "side issues" at best.

Social Security is nothing more than a ponzi scheme. Were a private organization or individual do something like that they would be in prison. People should be required to put their 6% in private investments and get government out of being "mommy and daddy" to everyone.

Health care will be an issues because almost everyone thinks they have a "god given right" to it.

Personally, I'm sick and tired of people wanting to know what the government is going to do for them.

Other than that, I really don't have too many opinions on the rest of the stuff. laugh

Are you ready to give up your home for them (since it is their "right" to have housing)?
