Well it's been fun... but I'm off to bed. Said goodbye to some really good friends who are going home to Sweden in the morning, had a good cry... always leaves me tired. Have a lovely evening hug

Exactly, we just don't know what's real here and for those people who say well yeah but it's the same in the real world because you don't really know somebody after an initial meeting, say in a pub. Rubbish! if you are face to face with somebody, firstly you know exactly what they look like....unlike here. Secondly, talking to somebody face to face, even for just 10 minutes, can be much more enlightening than a month of e-mail corrrespondence and phone calls.

I second you Jan......in real life, what you see and sense, is what you get...here online it's the wrong way round....I'd say, 60 seconds of face-to-face, is worth more than 60 hours online....MHO...

Well I think it also very much depends on the person..some people are just honest on and off line......and when you meet them ...this is often verified....others just set out to deceive......on and off line .....and then getting at the crux of the matter can take time.....

I have to disagree. I find it quite easy to 'suss' somebody out if I've corresponded with them for a whole month using my 'rusty knight interrogation technique mark 5.667'. If you've spoken on the telephone you even know what they sound like......all that's left to find out is if they smell good and if you find their body language bearable or if that little nervous tic by their right eye is too irritating or really cool to catch the waiter's attention!

I feel so stupid - how do you show the text of the last person?

help grin

Ghost, I am with you 100%

Plus, people that lie will not want to meet, will they?
Have you noticed that to be honest is much easier when speaking to stranger? Worry of being evaluated, getting hurt is reduced to nil compare to speaking with those you care for.

I think distance prevents many relationships from blooming out of friendship into something more.

Dating someone who lives in another country seems quite impossible dunno

Quite so......I think the best way to meet someone is to have someone catch your eye....and then you chat, then you see if there's any chemistry, the physicality issues, the communication issues...the common-interest issues....and then...and then....

on the internet, it's exactly the other way round....and if that person is in another country, well.....that first initial "connection" mechanism may take place two- or more months and 10'000 emails later.....only to find that it doesn't "click"....

OH NO!You mean to say that I been spending the last two months communicating with my little goat herder in the Iranian desert for nothing? We just about up to our 500th email... this is so disappointing! And I realy thought we had clicked!

now....I gone and enrolled him in University, he has sold all his goats, and bought a pair of shoes, and now there is the chance that we will not fall instantly in love when we meet?

I do wish you guys would cease demoralising us webchasers ..... it is very wearying you know!Every time he goes to the Oasis Web-Inn to email me it costs him a
CAMEL!

And now I gotta send him money to buy some more camels... for the next 500 emails....
