For a weekend away.
My son phoned me last night to say he wouldnt be in work (we work together) because he was going to St Lucia for the weekend. Even though the complete package including a 4 star hotel is costing him just £75, an eight hour flight seems too much to me for just a weekend.
How far would you/have you travelled for a weekend jaunt?

my dream is to start travelling for long distances just to attend concerts, exibitions, stuff like that! When i start earning my money, i'll definitely go to Detroit to see Anita Baker or so for 4 days- long weekend hey:)...but first, i really need therapy for...scare of flying!

As far as necessary..providing the destination didnt take the entire weekend to get there......
I've driven quite far, 9-12 hours... An 8 hour flight does sound LONG, but I'd begin to think that I'll have all the chances to be lazy and not go when I'm dead, and until then possibilities should be used... JMO!

I have sailed at times only going backwards for an adventure. These are only what you can remember later in life, not the endless days you were working. All to often we fail to find adventures.

If I ended up with just, say, a day after all the travelling I probably wouldn't go but if I had at least two full days or more, then... try stopping me!!

Seems ages ago now alison, but he had a great time (apart from the strip search at the airport), guess they thought he was up to no good. I expect they dont get many weekend travellers from the UK over there.
