Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Monday backed the Bush administration's policy of shunning contact with the Islamic militants of Hamas in its Middle East peace diplomacy. He said "You can't negotiate with somebody who does not recognize the right of a country to exist so I understand why Israel doesn't meet with Hamas,"
Obama has said in the past he would be willing to meet with leaders with whom the Bush administration strongly disagrees, including Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Yet, Iran does not recognize Israel either and Ahmadinejad has often threatened the imminent destruction of the Jewish state.
How is this different? How can one negotiate using a standard which is not applied equally to all? Both Ahmadinejad and Hamas representatives have been elected into their positions and are recognized by their respective countries.
seriously...i am in love with peace, harmony, compassion, integrity and intelligence.....and so far Barack Obama seems to be the candidate who has more compassion, intelligence and integrity...which hopefully enables him to bring more peace, harmony and stability to this world ! He is in my opinion the best opportunity the world has seen in decades to lead not just the united states but to set an example to the rest of the world....to unite and work together rather than work against each other....he is the only candidate who has the capacity and talent to achieve this...... If you invesitgate into his life and 20 years of public service you will see what i mean........hmmmm maybe as you are also pretty well informed you have already done this !
by the way Cristina do you ever get back over to Portugal....if you do and ever get down to my area....let me know we could have a or two or three....hic !

As promised, I did read the referenced material and it was very well done. It also led to a wealth of information from iother links.
I can't say I agree with Obama's ideals on pulling combat troops beginning 31 Mar 08 as outlined but he did comeback at a later time and acknowledge he could not even guarantee that all troops would be out of Iraq by 2012. To me that's much more realistic and honest.
Also, I really don't believe removing the combat troops from Iraq and keeping them in the region if needed is a good strategy either. The troops we had in the region in support of Northern and Southern watch is was has helped to fuel the 9/11 and other terrorists attacks.
I will say this for Obama and I have always said this. I do believe he's the best candidate from the democratic party. As far as I can see, his experiance as compared to Clinton's is not a factor. He's an intelligent, articulate and likable person and I am glad he hasn't resorted to roll in the mud political tactics. I just don't see eye to eye with some of his political beliefs.
mindfful: not sure but im hopeful i was pointing out that it SEEMED that way
and it does especially since it was repeated
shouldnt matter what i think
and i dont find pointed and rude to be the same thing as i am a fan of clarity, being articulate and being informed, not that you asked me-
if i were this candidate i wouldnt make any comment whatsoever on a situation thats current and developing, for a number of reasons
it may change people really focus on later, positive and negative, as they perceive them, on comments/actions regarding this particular part of the world and i wouldnt like a candidate spouting off on stuff that may not be within their realm to effect at this time. it would e unwise and inappropriate.
your point for me is made in your last sentence in the op. these places have their own officials, and also, this has been an ongoing conflict for a long long time. so far out interjection has had a mixed result...
Mindful,
I've always respected your opinion. Maybe not always agreed but the respect has always been there. I was just taken a bit by surprise by last night's comments. Anyway, I'm glad we were able to discuss it. .
LOL !!! We just might have discovered who is the mysterious guy that Mindful depicts on her profile! (hat and glasses, hmm?) I think she has a crush on Sparky!
