Heard about a couple who sold the house, bought the boat in Faro.....and made it to the Bahamas.....after 2 years on the high seas they were back in Switzerland looking for an apartment.....reason?...his back gave out....he was quite a bit older than her....and living and working on a boat is hard work...you're on your knees half the time.....tough..

The worst thing to do when you retire is sit back and do nothing.

Retired people these days are healthier and often younger than in the past so they should get out there and do the things they dreamed of during the 9 - 5 work slog.

Unfortunately financial constraints may mean that the dream is not realised and that's often when lethargy sets in.

It may be boring advice, but if you can, plan financially for your retirement as early as possible so that you can achieve your dreams.

I have mine.

happy place

Welcome back lagoonie!

Retirement - dislike the word for a start- has connotations of waiting to die /one foot in the grave stuff

--- contribution to the planet, furthering ones understandings, being! - whilst maintaining a dignified existence until the body gives in and even then whatever one is capable of in the aforementioned yay

Well, I`m "retired" and still doing the same things I been doing all my life......... I just keep working on things and projects. I guessing that retirement for me means when I cant walk anymore and then I can just sit in the sun in my potting shed? and next to the fire in the winter? As long as I got eye-sight, and my hands still work ... I`ll just carry on till "my time comes" to return from whence I came......dancing This time, I just got to remember not to request a return trip!... I keep forgetting why I came back....

That`s something I got to remember on my next sojourn to this planet! I`ve now got this list I`m memorising - and if there is a next time, for sure, I gonna remember all these things.......So far things have sort of turned out accidental......

Hey Smoky!! wave

Hot here already!!
Yesterday was a sleeveless day (which means HOT for Greeks!!) and we're expecting our first mini-heatwave (mid to high 30's) next week.
Not sure how I feel about that, actually... uh oh dunno

Happy accidents are wonderful things{perhaps the result of advance planning.we might not remember but that doesn't mean we're unprepared]
As for "traditional retirement"at least here in the US,seems to be on the way out.The way things are going,a fixed income doesn't cut it.Unless you have some sort of active income, retirement is going to become harder and harder to achieve
As for me,I'll just keep inventing stuff and hope I hit a good one
