crying The party's over....For all those in the Educational Field who restart work in the next week...Go forth and go strong...I look forward to hearing the crazy student stories and any words of advice...No more sleeping in, but on the good side, we get to see smiling faces each morning from little ones who love us to bits and show it for the next school year....

P.S. Any special needs teachers (autism, aspergers, ADHH etc) out there with stories and comments, please feel free to contact me via mailbox...Sorry..know this may be boring to the rest of you, but couldn't resist

I knew a great guy via the internet who taught deaf kids; he was so dedicated that he actually instigated a change in legislation to change how they were assessed in exams... that's dedication for you! thumbs up

Thanks Rusty,
There are some incredible teachers out there. Second time you have given me goose bumps by your message. I wish him all the best and power to him. We need those kinds of people out there as the kids with disabilities that are not visible (such as Downs or a physical disability or hearing impaired) get a really hard deal. We don't assess our guys as we are supposed to (by the book) because it is unreasonable. Thanks again

Thank you sweet lady, I have a very good spanish (valencia) speaking friend who works with me. Perhaps she is familiar with your book and can translate. Apart from that, we will be in touch here. Good health and the best to you.

rusty_knight: I like teaching. I have this huge power issue where I really enjoy manipulating people; give me a young child, and in five years I'll turn him/her into a ruthless savage taught to kill on command!

Lol....love it! I rub my hands together every morning with an evil chuckle and get those same thoughts...then I have a coffee and a smoke and just teach them math...but EVIL math...professor

I teach mathematics too.......... very evil Mathematics! conversing

My Mathematics is so evil, that when they get home they stun their parents with questions that always have the same answer -

>

>

>

'666'

And let's face it.....not that many kids can count to 666!

'Mummmmmmmmmmm - what's 333 x 2?'

'Mummmmm - if there were 34 cookies in the jar and I ate one and multiplied the number left by two and then by ten and then added six......... what's the answer?'

'Mummmmmmmmmmm - can I have $666 pocket money?......... I need to buy a soul mate, and a new cookie jar. I broke the old one over my last soul mate's head and he's dead!'

Hiya Imma!!!!

I used to teach French and Spanish in a secondary school in the UK ... age 11 to 16 ... all abilities including Special Needs ...

I once overheard one of the kids from one of my Special Needs classes telling someone that in my class I never made them "do" any work, all we did was play games and it was a lot of fun!!! "What in english?" someone asked. Oh! No! Replies the student "We play them in French!" laugh

smoky: Yes, I was curious what sort of contribution you were making on this Thread!

The funniest thing I find is when peoples dogs only understand the language their owners speak ..... I used to babysit my german neighbors dogs in SA and they did not understand english! ... I taught them sign language ( )

Just remembered a story which I can't help but chuckle at but was no fun for my colleague.

A colleague of mine had a medical problem with his eyes ... basically one eye looked east while the other one looked west which sometimes made it awkward knowing who he was talking to when we were out socialising ... But it was as it was ...

Anyhow, the colleague was giving a kid a "telling off" for something (in front of the whole class - wrong move) and the kid was rudely looking out the window waiting for it to stop. This infuriated my colleague who snapped at the kid "And look me in the eyes when i'm talking to you!" To which the kid replied very politely and calmely "Which one shall I look at Sir?" I know it shouln't be funny but ... laugh

The self employed amongst us have to work all through the summer just to stay alive. Sorry but I,ve very little sympathy for those of you who enjoy summerlong fully paid hols. I,ve not had a summer holiday for three years now! Teaching is hard work at the best of times, bloody worse when its nudging fifty degrees and the people you are teaching resent you because they don,t want to be taught. So if like me you have had to teach all summer long I really do feel for you. The rest of you............professor
