Someone who you can talk to about your troubles, who will always be there for you, but you do like to have both your needs meet until the right person comes along.

Then I should reword it, if male a female friend, if a female a male friend.

What could you get out of this kind of relationship and could it develop into a romance.

I have to agree with that. Friends with benefits can get very messy. In my experience, most cases end up with one or both parties getting emotionally involved and you can either decide to start a relationship or just try and go back to being friends. But a friends with benefits sorta arrangement rarely lasts long-term.

We all need someone to talk to - friends are wonderful to have, male and female but a friends with benefits scenario is a whole new kettle of fish.....JMO

I actually agree with that, it is nothing that I personally could do, but always wondered why some do. That is why I asked if anyone ever had this kind of friendship and why.

I have a very good man friend who I've known for a long time so we're spending this weekend fishing and camping. There's no romance invloved just friends only.

Oh, they had this agreement that when either of them found a partner, they would keep a distance, and not really socialize together... That happened a few times during that 5 year period...on both sides...They respected that agreement, and as my partner she was thoroughly trustworthy....I found it an unusual, and quite remarkable friendship....I had no problem with it..

kitty01: Did you ever wonder what she did with her old friend if they remained friends.

Funny it's something I never dreamed I could do,
but did for 4 years on and off between one
or other of us dating someone.

He was someone I dated for a short while and
it didn't work out the age difference of 14
years was a big thing, he was younger than I.

It worked well enough in it's way, it suited us.

He was never a best friend although we talked,
the arrangement we had was on a different level.

Lagoona22: You're right....everybody knows that...but often choose to ignore that truth....my question is, how can you sleep regualrly with someone, and not become attached?....if you can, I'd be wary of you....I knew someone like that...she could totally divorce the physical act, and emotions.....not for me thanks....I like old-fashioned romance...

Ah, some people can and do and are proud of it.

I was told that being physical with a person is completely different than making love with someone.

By a person who had a one night stand whilst in a relationship. Did not make the girl feel great at all.

I am with you. On this.
