Jan1305: Good analogy Sommer, I agree with you entirely. It's hard work over on the IF sometimes.

And Rusty, how lucky you are to be coddled by your lady. Your relationship, being together every few weeks, seems ideal to me. Just the way I'd like it.

I agree......... being together with a bossy teacher type would be Hell after a few weeks! tongue

Only joking.......... I am sure that many people find a 'medium distance' relationship the ideal - a 'long distance' relationship (e.g. 'across the pond') is just so much financial and time hassle, while an 'inter-European' one is neither too far away in time travel terms or too hard to plan financially with cheapo flights still going the rounds even with huge fuel price hikes -

the saying:

'Familiarity breeds contempt' has less chance of taking root if you plan your leisure time together and get on with the serious side of life 'independently' (provided neither of you are the cloying 'I can't live a day without you' types)........

Have you noticed how many couples who 'tolerate' each other for decades (when at least one is working) divorce or virtually live apart once thewy have both retired from earning their daily crust?

In ways of expressing oneself - maybe the language differences has a cause in it.

We have had visits here now and then by uneven weather phenomena’s, but it is generally not considered typical for this zone. laugh

I don’t know a jota about the UK atmosphere, I do only compare to the International and here. It is a fair comparison since both are made up of several nationalities in one place.

Hi n° 1,

I'm an Irish bloke living in Paris and I have been hanging around here for a few weeks. And I have found everyone who participates in the EU forum, polite, funny, sometimes very frank. I have also learnt silly bits of trivia and saved money on a shrink. Sometimes i have put my big toe over the line(generally after a glass or three of plonk) and have been slapped down like a pup but not in an impolite way.

I have also met some very solid Brits on the INT forum and enjoy boxing with them and swapping idea's and mails. I sometimes have a look at the UK forum but it doesn't move very fast. Sometimes it goes days with out a posting. I have also noticed that some of the threads/posts are the same as the EU forum only a few days later(bit like how the UK is always the 1st to follow Brusselles), some of the answers are exactly the same...

No N°1, the people here are polite. What they are not is insular like Britain is..
