Probably....the markets are in unchartered territory...those people who have stock investments are hurting already, those with bonds less so...but the trickle down effect will certainly affect the average Joe in the street too...

I am waiting for those among us with greater financial insight to sound off on th subject...

'greater financial insight' is a subjective term.... all I know is that I am personally better off (for the present) as a result of the so-called finacial chaos - I do not pretend to be anything more than lucky in these matters.

I made some good money earlier in the year and a little last week, but as long as my income increases above inflation I can't grumble.

nerd Ahem! ...... If I may?....... The One with greater financial insight has arrived - you just so lucky!

Now, read very intensely what I write, for I shall not repeat it again ..... To have markets in unchartered territory, well that is a dicy business to begin with. And those who invest in unchartered territories are like the pioneers of old who set forth on sailing ships seeking the New World with the ever present vision of falling off the edge of the flat world - Only with very wealthy with money to "waste" invested in these visionary escapades into the unknown. Those with more common sense kept their money under their mattresses at home.

So you see? Never feel bad if you suffer from your own Visionary excercises with your money .... At least know that your money had a good time hitting the highs before it hit the Big Low.... or at least anyway Somebody had fun with your money - even if you did not! And that is the important part of this message ..... never bedgrudge others their fun. Now - try and remember The Secret that everyone is talking about, and try practicing it, it may not bring your money back, but it will help you get over your stupidness.

And dont try and thank me for my words of wisdom... My words are free - for now anyway.cheers

Yes, thank you, I greatly appreciate your confidence in me. I am still practicing my financial acumen. Is Credit when you owe money? Or is that Debit? .. and which side of the page do they go? Using common sense I`d guess that being right handed money coming In goes on the righthand side, and money going out goes on the left? If my book-keeping customers are left-handed should I reverse this for them? confused dunno .. or just stick to the chartered courses - while I throw their money into the unchartered courses?

Easy for you to say, living where it is booming laugh

I am waiting for the Asians to make a move, we will have a completely different owner spread in two years.

Asking me? About time.

But it will cost dearly, forget borrowing money for that new car in a while, there is simply not enough cash in the market !

For those that have cash saved for worse days can make a good return by investing them with money market hedgers. Very risky, but the big move will be in there.

And lastly, the actual value of business is not gone, even if it seems the markets are evaluating it at 0 or worse right now.

It is the direct dividend that is gone, for short term investors there are no fun left in owning properties or lending money.

The houses still stands, the ground steady below. As long as we are not wanting to sell and do not have mortgages up above the roof we are good. That value stays and will recover.

It is a huge cool down but this time there is money elsewhere waiting to come to play.

just for the record--- a similar thing happened in 1987 prior to the American presidential election --- the stock market crashed - the central banks pumped in billions to 'liquify' the Us system--- recession followed and --- the democrats won the election --- perhaps this time it may be different

A fine analysis Sommer...of course the markets will recover...stocks normally give a better consistent return over the years, but one has to have time on your side...there is some sort of correction on average once every 10 years....If you are young-ish with a job, sit tight, don't do a thing.

here is an interesting quote, with a link:

"Research by analyst Adam Barth of Hoboken, N.J., based Barth Research in Barron's shows that in any 20 year period (1920-39, 1921-40, etc.) since 1920, the stock market is surprising constant with respect to average earnings and growth. Therefore, this must be true for the period 1995-2014. The past 11 years have seen an enormous stock bubble which continues to this day, and so the next 9 years will have to compensate, meaning that the stock market is far overvalued."

Why no person has worked this out yet, is completely beyond my comprehension...
