must be too early in the morning....
all of you seem to have missed something here...

the right question would be........where did the extra $5 come from..???

read more carefully.

4th line says says getting back $5 each.......... does not say just $5 total.
$5 each would be $15

in the end...

room....................$45
returned..............$15
landlord...............$5

total.....................$65

so where did the extra $5 come fromrolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing tongue

Enduro: Ok young lady I have found it.

But when you have your answer please DO NOT tell me
as the task for me is that I have to tell you what answer you came up with.

So please just let me know when you have an answer and
I will then tell you what I think it is. OK?
Ok everybody here it is:

Just think of a number between 1-9

Now multiply it by 9

then add the 2 digits

And minus 5 from the result. OK?

Now assign the number you have with a letter:
A=1
B=2
C=3
D=4 etc

Ok now think of a country starting with the letter you have.

Also think of an animal with the 2nd letter of the country you thought of. OK

Now please let me know if you have an answer and I wil attempt
to predict exactly what it is.
got one.

OK here's a riddle for you.
You're on an island with a canoe and you have a fox, a chicken and a pile of corn. You have to get off the island with all your possesions but you can only take 1 at a time due to the limit of the canoe.
How do you get everything off the island without the fox eating the chicken or the chicken eating the corn?

confused

Ok if you can only take one at a time then I would:

First take the corn so the chicken doesn't eat it.

Then take the fox which would not eat the corn while waiting.

Then last take the chicken to the waiting fox and corn.

This way all would be safe. I think?conversing

Ok the solution I think would have to be to think outside the square.

So then how about taking the chicken first
Then the corn
And finally just let the fox swim across.

Therefore problem solved chicken cannot eat the corn and fox
does not get a chance to eat the chicken.

So everybody gets across uneaten!professor
Only the fox would get a little wetlaugh

Sorry it's just too far for the fox to swim besides how would you convince the fox to jump in the water and swim for the mainland?

See, I have this thing about eating before I go exercising... so, some roasted chicken & corn would be darned tasty before bringing the fox with me for a nice long row.

... but I'm Asian... the fox might be next, once I got to shore...

take the chicken across first,
go back across and get the corn next,
take the corn across, pick up the chicken and take it back across , leave it and get the fox, take the fox across next and leave him with the corn the last... go back across and get the chicken.

Well tempting the fox would be easy.professor

Just sit the chicken at the end of the canoe and the
fox would soon swim after its food or starve on the island.

But if the mainland was too far then I guess the fox may drown.
But at least it did not eat the chicken. So got 2 out of 3 across!

idea
But if the corn was dry in corn cobs
then you could make a raft with the corn cobs.
So then you take the chicken with you in the canoe
and simply tow the fox behind on the corn cob raft.professor

This way you could get all three across at the same time.laugh
