US phone users beware (9)
nomindgamesPainesville, Ohio USA168 Threads 1 Polls 3,154 PostsThere is a new SCAM my father just called my attention too because a friend got 1 of these calls.Area codes 809,284,876 are from Domenicun Republic and are SCAM calls.They leave a message saying a family membr has gotten sick or died,or they say you won something,anyway they give you a number to call.It goes to the Dominecon Republic and you get some recording to keep you on line.1 minute costs $2,425 a minute.Because they are outside of US jurisdiction the phone company refuses to help and they tell you to connect to the overseas company that billed you,then that company does nothing to help.

Yeah... my cell phone has unlimited everything so I'd be fine. Hopefully people are smart enough to know that these things are scams, especially when they say things like "You've won unlimited pie!" when you never even entered things.

They were doing that with pagers a few years back, i'm not stresed being that my cell will not even accept the .50cent charge to vote for the american idol.

They are using IP phones, with bought number series in Dom Rep.
Fully possible that they are still operating out of US. Send the numbers to the FBI fraud hotline and they will close them down as they pop up.
