Why do many of you call each 'bro' and 'sis?'

You see, being a Brit, those sort of names are relayed to blood people, so I did just wonder why this happens...

Because for me, it is false, I would never want a person online who i had never met, to have the same title as my borther....

So, if anybody can clarify, being a thick Brit, I would appreciate it...
