There's a difference between secret and private. I'll let you decide what it is...
Some things are private. Like people's feelings for one another. Should it be a secret? No, but it's also not anyone else's business either.
Shouting to the world that I love someone is tempting fate. Lot's of people are without love and will do just about anything to keep other people there as well. I'll not let the bitter people of the world have a specific target to shoot their venom at.
If I love you, its enough that you know I do. If its a requirement that I announce it to the world, you're insecure and possibly unworthy of that love.

Hmmm ... may be a bit more helpful if some people knew that, (*according to the OP*), she had made a thread previously ... telling of how the man she was involved with was ashamed & embarrassed to be seen with her due to her size, which is what he told her when she inquired as to why he didn't want her to get out of the car when picking him up, etc. ...
