Moema: Back to the environment topic.

Sustainable means what we take, we put back, or it is able to replace itself within the necessary time when we need it again.

What are the things you already do or live without, in order to do your part for global sustainability, for this generation and the next (especially those who have or want children)?

I bike whenever I can, to nearby places.

I plan my car trips when running errands so I get things done following a route so I spend less fuel.

I avoid plastic as much as possible.

I reuse water from the sink and washing machine for the plants and to wash the house floor and the car.

I have the least possible electric appliances at home: PC, TV, stereo, iron, washing machine, fridge and shower.

I take short showers.

I only buy what I need (as in I don´t need expensive clothes and I don´t need to change my cell phone for another one just cause it´s "new", if the old one still works).

I don´t throw food away, ever - everything gets consumed in time.

I would never ever give up to my long showers

grin devil devil that would be an unacceptable restrictionlaugh

Moema: You know, I believe Obama will sign the Kyoto Protocol!!!

I'm afraid he will too. Sounds like he wants 150,000 coal miners to lose their jobs. This will be interesting...and they voted for him. confused popcorn

I have never driven, and would prefer to walk rather than use public transportation if at all possible. I am not adverse to being in a vehicle I just have chosen to forgo the consumption of fossil fuels. Perhaps with the advent and eventual turn over of renewable sources of energy I might bother but other than that I would need a pretty damn convincing arguement to be involved in this past-time of sorts.
I do not read newspapers (mostly began due to the grade level of our local papers, and the mercurial banality of larger ones. I am not interested in how some celebrity is doing according to their agent or the paparazzi whatsoever).
I have never and will never own a cell phone.
Education on what is really happening also helps to promote a continuation of life on this planet for those who follow in our footsteps, and there is always hope as long as these children are provided with the opportunity to change their own consumption policies.
