venere08: I'm kinda trying to be creative here, as to finding a solution to bringing an end to terrorism

Perhaps geneticists could study the brains of terrorists, and do lots of bloo tests.

Perhaps, just perhaps,

they could find some sort of defective mutant gene, some missing protein molecule.

Even a vaccine against terrorism.

Who knows?

Any scientists on CS???

The gene for agression would have to be isolated as would the gene for passiveness. Then there would have to be a pre-determined formula for a precise percentage of both traits to balance and cancel too much in either direction.

But really People, that is a whole 'nother bucket of worms I would not like to see opened. How long before we become as: "The Borg, from Star Trek" Seeking out to force others to conform to our Way, Utopia, Etc?

Perhaps though, this kind of reseach could be utilized to Rehabilitate Killers? Then again,it is a fine line to walk.

I think that particular type of horror is one Gene Rodenberry, envisioned when he and others wrote of these stories. Who would the ones be that have that kind of control? The Governments of the world? From what I see NONE of them are ready for that kind of power.

Remember, "With Great Power Comes Great Responsiblity, Like it or not, Want it or not, Ask for it or not."

Far better to teach Live and Let Live. Tolerance.

Dawn7z: There would be terrorism without guns. I am sorry that you have been exposed to those horrors. People use their religious beliefs as a reason to exterminate others. That is why I am no longer relgious.

There's probably many reasons to not be religious, but I'm not sure I would subscribe to your view, nevertheless, I respect it.

That's like saying I'm opposed to transportation because people die in car, plane and train accidents.

I do fully agree with you.

But sometimes, things do go wrong with human wiring.

And of-course all the ethical issues. And where does one stop?

But I don't know about you. If we touched absolutely nothing else in trerms of genetic engineering, elimnating terrorisms would be one of the grandest achievements of the modern world.

I yearn for peace in my personal life. And I yearn for the world to have it, too.

I have a fool proof way of dealing with a terrorist, it's simple....you put 30 rounds through him/her.

And it's not just a matter of guns, a grenade will do a lot of damage as well, as will plastic explosives.

In actual fact you can harm people with just about anything.

The only thing that stops it is morals, sensabilities and peer pressure......and the fear and consequences of being caught.

The only way to deal with a terrorist is by making Terrorism "unacceptable to the terrorist".

I won't go into this too much or it might make people ill.

An interesting concept.

When you are able and willing, would love to hear more. Could be an interesting discussion for other CS'ers.

And guns are made as a form of self-protection. Women's lives have been saved by carrying a gun.

People here argue about such small crap, do you really think anything you say in a thread is going to make any difference.

I don't think sitting behind a computer is going to change the world.

I agree Robbie. Unfortunately, the pain inflicted on the perpetrator has to be stronger than the pain recieved by him. Conditioned response.

It's not, I hit the quote button but that is how it came out..

piss no......... just get sick of listening to crazy people rant about guns without thinking about it first or without being able to see the reality.

I have legally owned guns all my life.. haven't killed anyone yet. but they will sure be handy if we ever do get attacked..
if someone decides to shoot at me.. at least we can defend ourselves...not just be a sitting target in a market.

Its not the religon, but the crazy people who use religon as an excuse.

I've read the Koran and the Bible. Neither book tells you to go out and slaughter innocent people.
