I was pondering over greatness a moment ago and wondered just what it is. Is there such a thing? What is it that makes one great? Is it the votes of those who read/listen to the wisdom of one who is deemed great? Or is it the unique qualities that we all each have and often do not know exist within us or we that don’t label as great. Do you think that the ancient sages of old who are deemed great now, when writing ever knew that they were great or that one day they would be deemed as great.

Many people that I have met in my life journey who are deemed great by others are not always deemed great by me and I have to look deeper for the qualities that they do possess. Simply because the qualities I identify with are not always apparent and therefore because I know we all have qualities I search a little bit further than one can see or hear. Sometimes I find greatness where others do not too.

So what I am really am getting here is. Aren’t we all great in our own right? Yes we have non-great qualities but we do have great qualities too so therefore we are all both great and non-great.

So what is greatness then?
dunno

The answer may be found by asking yourself who you concider great and then asking why you concider them great.

Carnegy commisioned an intersting individule to interview some of the people that were concidered great at his time. The mans name was Nathanal Hill and he interviewed A G Bell, T Eddison and Ghandi to name a few. Look up the science of personal achievment and you will find somthing. If you can find the recordings of Hill he is very entertaining.

No, I don't think many of them did. Even those of our present time, like the Dalai Lama and Deepak Chopra don't think of themselves this way...they are humble people who do know that they speak words of wisdom and others listen, but I don't think that they think of themselves as "great". I believe that they would agree with you...all of us are great.

Yes we are all great, for were we not made in the image of the almighty? But what has obviously happebed is that we have diminished the image by doing the wrongs that we have done. However that is not without repentence of our wrong doings....for God is a for giving God. Is he not?

I find greatness in purity of spirit, in innocence, in obscurity, in suffering in silence, in giving everything and asking for nothing, in being misunderstood and passed by when it might have been your turn, in believing in God more than ever.

excellent post thumbs up... greatness I think... is an essence, a strength of character it is dictated to by the timeless values of honesty, truth and integrity. It trancends the present time.. Most people in any given era take a prescribed current and don't have the courage to go against the flow.. a great person will trancend this and rise above it and just 'Be'....... for the common good..

Greatness is overcoming the seemingly impossible.

Greatness is inspiring others.

Greatness is accomplishing something you wanted to accomplish.

I think

Greatness comes to us when we
choose the Mind of the Spirit
consistently.
