Just because our politicians are more skilled at covering up their bad and inappropriate behaviours, doesn't mean that they are any better than those overseas that get caught.
Look at the "expenses" claims revelations. As if they don't get paid enough money now....
Politicians the world over are basically of the same spirit.
No matter what country one travels to, the politicians will be rorting the system and dumping on the poor in their respective countries.

After hearing the news today that the new Mayor of New York's wife, (they have 3 kids) once was a lesbian
And the Mayor of Toronto has admitted, after initially denying it before the appearance of him on a video recording, smoking crack cocaine in a drunken stupor!!

I was listening to Tom Tilly half hour jjj on this subject... and the general consensus was that if the mayor of Canada..
who has been on DV charges, is a drunken bum occasionally, and is generally foul... smokes his crack cocaine.. etc..
If he does his job well... then it's fine with most people who texted and rang the show...
A Canadian man phoned in... and said.. that in his early days, when he was a councillor, he would tend to people complaints personally, and after earning his brownie points.. he was elected Mayor... and despite it all... he does his job well... and therefore, being he is human, and not infallible... All is well...
but its only a half hour talkback show...

If you are in the public spotlight at all... and especially if its your job... to make calls... which affect other people's lives..
Then in my very puritan view... one needs to be squeaky clean..

I feel so much better with our elected leaders here , one having a number of girlfriends and helping one with a "job" reference .Another facing corruption charges who used to be Police minister .

Campbell Newman kicked off a collection we all thought was to assist queenslanders adversely impacted by horrendous floods which was compounded by state government releasing water from on dams, anyway best as i can tell most the money newman collected pumped the water out of his pet tunnel ego trip, his stupid bike-walkway along the river front and was also spent other council property instead of all going where it was intended, assist queenslanders who had lost everything.

A Councillor for Botany Council NSW was severely beaten, allegedly because he didn't get a development approved. Police were called in to investigate the allegations (they were satisfied from all the photos he had actually be beaten up) but..... Next thing, he was in NSW State Parliament so the investigation disappeared.
After getting to his massive super payout time done, he moved into Federal politics (and another super pension scheme) and became Minister for Transport. First thing he did was divert planes from flying over his mother's house.
And all of a sudden, they were flying over my mother's house every hour.
