Latin Soul...
The venue? Limassol,
Time? 10.30 pm,
The vibe? The Soul of Latin music...
Aaahhh, what bliss!!!
As the musicians’ instruments and voices blend and begin their magic,
All eyes are focussed on them,
Bodies start swaying in their chairs and mouths start miming the words of familiar songs,
All around us, are eager young eyes, full of anticipation to pair up with somebody and enter the enchanting world of Latino rhythm...[funny, when I was younger, I always noticed the legs, now, it seems my fate to notice the eyes, wonder what that means...]
The two of us were easily the ‘oldest-young- souls’ in the joint by far,
No one was dancing yet,
I could wait no longer, I grabbed my partner by the hand and led her to the arena,
As I was squeezing past one gorgeous female apparition after the other,
I abruptly came across two such stunningly feminine blue eyes, I almost kissed them, helped to get me in the mood,
My partner is a pro, and easily and immediately got in touch with the cadence,
My dinosauric joints however, took a while to limber up,
Slowly, meditatively, I allowed myself to go into recess as I prayerfully called on my African Shamanic spirits to take me into their world, and gave my body free reign,
I always marvel at what my body can do on the dance floor, when I move out of its way,
Aaahhh, the joy of surrender...
On the floor, my partner politely allowed me to experience the illusion of leading for a while, before she lost patience, and, well, woe was me, admittedly in a delicious manner, but nevertheless, there was no mistake which gender was in charge...,
I always seem to pick tigers, I guess, I’m a sucker for ‘punishment’, smile?
Keep dancing, folks, it keeps old age at bay...
