Will we ever learn?

Earthquakes, hurricanes and floods catastrophes’ them all.
Is Mother Nature warning us or just banging her head against a wall.
The pain she’s feeling deep inside is tearing her apart.
We haven’t heard a word she’s spoken not from our very start.
Plundering her bounteous gifts with no consideration.
Everybody is to blame each and every single nation.
It can’t go on this reckless folly for all will soon be gone.
Until we learn to compromise our end will surely come.
Divisions will destroy us and ignorance as well.
We are all Gods children let’s not send them all to hell.

Will mankind learn
or will the answers
be forever on the wind
as forests burn
and urban cancers
devour the planet's skin
I do believe
the time draws near
when God will say "it's done"
and all mankind will see appear
the kingdom of His Son.

Hi, grandad,
Everything we, and all other living creatures, do changes the moment - for better or ill. First the learning and then the action (or inaction). When societies are built upon consumption, voracious appetites are developed and demand to be fed. Not honoring sacrifices made, waste cannot be a good thing!

A few miles from where I live, there is a strange structure:
A pit, with a shallow semi-circular wall facing east. On one side of it is a crater; on the other is something which looks a bit like an altar (albeit the slab on top has been thrown off).
In front of the whole thing is something which looks remarkeably like a Throne-seat.

It's a solar temple: On one side must have been a huge tree at one time (The 'Tree of life'), on the other a sacrificial altar (representing death).

If you imagine a fire burning all night long in that pit during the solstice, then the following morning it will appear as if the sun is rising from the embers- if you happen to sit on that throne:
The principle of renewal.

The people who build that were called 'Geiphtine' (Keating)- the people my little home-town is called after: Eas Geiphtine (pronounced 'Ash Gaten). They build it many, many moons ago.

They stood on their own feet: They grew their own food, made their own cloths, build their own houses, fought their own fights if necessary.

They had no banks, no airplanes, no computers, no TV, no global warming, no pollution.

But they had pride.

After many years of seeing and absorbing the visual effects of 'futile' mans inability of trying to tame this world for his own selfish needs, I sometimes get 'carried away' with things I say and write. I see the reality with my own eyes and it 'hurts'. We can discuss this topic for hours on end but this is impossible unless we are 'face to face'.
I apologise for my ramblings but I, like many others, fear for our childrens future and I will not walk around wearing 'blinkers' nor bury my head in the sand. Things have to change, they must if man is to survive at all.
TY for your comments.

cheers bouquet

Beautiful poem with a lot of significance!!!
I believe in our human spirit to survive. Our planet is made up of many nations, we just have to come together and leave behind our differences.
For those who love our world should do their part at their level to make our planet a better place to live.
Just look how our magnificent planet rotates out there in space and the gorgeous picture it shows.
Our sunsets and sunrises in any land are of incomparable beauty. But must of all are all the living creatures, plants in existence and all nature's gifts to us that make us responsible to take care of our planet.
Will we ever learn? , yes I think so since mother earth is letting us know it.........

i think we can , but first we must trust one another grandad

Will man ever learn, Grandad?
I hope so--but there's so much--selfishness and greed in our world today--I fear for--our future.
Our Grandchildren have been born into such a--material world--everyone looking out for number--one.
True Love and Caring for our fellowman seem only to surface--a bit--after disasters--Is this how we will learn?
Will we ever learn?
Much food for thought in --This Poem.
