You have to believe

As the setting sun retreats and darkness embraces the horizon.
Lonely Venus rises playing hide and seek with the moon.
I contemplate this troubled world so full of hurt and pain.
Is it not within our capabilities to thwart advancing doom?

We stand before an abyss that will envelope all we have,
Our selfish needs to quell, this World she cries in vain.
Yet even still her bounty does she give with no reserve.
If only we could suffer not those tears this Earth to stain.

All things die for that we know but what to follow is unknown.
Is this our promise for this life we live, a hole beneath our feet?
Or could there be a better place which eyes have never seen.
I fear for those with shallow minds, what future we may meet.

[Is this our promise for this life we live, a hole beneath our feet?]

what a strikingly poetic phrase, loved it, as for an answer to your question, dear friend, your guess is as good as anyone else's, personally, i do believe we're part of an awesome awareness[cant prove it, of course, no one can... ], but beyond that, i haven't a clue...

TY Redex and Earlgreytea, again I'm trying to understand all that is happening in the world. I am at a loss really, I'll just have to see what follows.

To keep on believing is a steep challange grandad. I have totally given up believing in the human race, finding something that is more beautiful than this Earth I doubt.....so what is left for me to believe in is that I shall return, able to friend and talk and understand the animals.

Lovely poem, I have the feeling we do think alike my dear.

Thoughtful and caring write grandad....little steps are better than none, and more and more are aware of what peace and pain means.....not always physical....Niahpeace peace

Hi, grandad,
Yet even still her bounty does she give with no reserve. Only through love and forgiveness can we, too, show such grace. Thank you for your stirring poem.
