Moonwalk
When I was young, just turned eight,
To be precise, here is the date,
Twenty, seven, nineteen sixty nine,
A day to remember for all mankind,
Earlier we had been told,
That one man would be so bold,
To leave the earth and one day soon,
Land upon our crescent moon,
He took two friends to guide his way,
And left us here to watch and pray,
So watch we did in black and white,
Allowed to stay up late that night,
Excitement would not let us sleep,
A golden memory forever to keep,
The whole world gasped and then did cheer,
As Neil Armstrong did appear,
Setting foot on virgin ground,
With no air to breath and not a sound.
Why did they go? Some people asked,
What purpose was this expensive task?
The money could have been better spent!
Some even believe they never went!
I do believe that they did go!
I watched it on a TV show!
A golden memory from that date,
I remember it well! I’d just turned eight!

delay I think. I think everyone knew where they were
that day. Nice write. It was exciting even though it
was all filmed in Sudbury, Ontario....lol.
A nostalgic write...
