Dragon Slayer

Dragon Slayer

With all silence he stole through a smoke filled hall
Each step taken with care lest he trip and fall

For Dragons sleep both deep and lite
Awake or asleep by day or night

Burning smoke, rasping he he climbed the path
His ancient sword ever ready to still a Dragon's rath

Praying magic cloak please hide me all
Lest the Dragon arise by the far wall

Flashing giant claws of death and breathing fire
So stealth by me or they'll play my funeral lyre

Just beyond lays the magical door of brass and gold
The majesty is amazing it's beauty to behold

Past that in the hall of magic rests the fabled book
Filled with magic's secrets just waiting for a look

Stealthy and quiet now and go ever so slow
A few yards and now just few feet more to go

I can feel it's heart beat, it's breathing and it's heat
The huge red gold scales and giant talons on it's feet

Past the Dragon laying soundly deep in sleep
I slip the lock to sneak into the magic keep

As the door slid open but just a tiny crack
The Dragon bellowed fire as it's head reared back

Dear God, NO! He cried as he raised his blade
But it was by far not enough his valiant effort made

Fire spewed out and filled the entire hall
Giant talons slashed and knight did fall

The book was never meant for him
The ancient curse fulfilled and the hall grew dim

And again the the Dragon closed a weary eye
Waiting until the next fool came close enough to die
