Sitting on a bench Watching folks go by Catching just a glimpse Of thoughts within their eye To most I am invisible They just don't see me there Or maybe they’re in a hurry So much they just don’t care I sense a bit of pity From those who look my way Wondering if at some point I might have had a better day I smile from deep within I know things they do not I’m not trapped by worldly things In greed they have been caught I have no place I call home But sleep in shelters at night The beauty of the moon Blessing me with it's light My clothes are old and dirty But they fit me oh so well After just a short while You don’t really notice the smell I rarely end the day hungry So many people just waste So of to search the dumpster I’ll sample now a taste Oh yes, I get some stares Street people usually do But stop and think it through Am I happier than you?
Hi Cloudysky.......Interesting write........life has so many choices for happiness......some people strive for everything an others are content with nothing an some have no choice at all...........thanks for sharing ......regards n61

Hi Cloudy
You write touchingly of the plight of so many who for one reason or another have dropped out of society's recognised mainstream, as to your question as to whether - in the round - those deemed to be more fortunate in respect of possessions etc are any happier, the answer could be a surprise a good number of people. I suspect many street dwellers are more content with their lot than a huge swathe of societies more competitive members of the rat race...
A thoughtful write.

That is so great, I do know there are people who prefer that kind of living to what most of us have, - me - I want to have security and a shower to bathe in. studecar
