Lost yet again on your quest for peace but undaunted as you unleash your strength into the wind and although the shadow seems to mask your fear caged in the stillness of the night your dream is holding you up high even in the threshold of defeat and as you tread the ways of redemption your undiminished hope hanging on your shoulder has escaped from your thoughts just for tonight, yes at this moment you just want to be a kid innocent and playful enjoy the touch of your feet running down, jumping upon this empty lustrous field don't want to do anything just lie down and enjoy the peace of being alone, thinking and remembering those innocent hugs and kisses, still seeking thinking what might have been had you stayed as she wanted but it was never your choice as you were called and be obliged to be on the front line and when the sun comes up those thoughts will yet again be neatly tucked away hoping that once in a while she remembers you...if only she knows, you want to live because of her...go home alive and whole..
if only she knows.

for those on their prime being called on the front lines...

Hi Sunday Rose, This is a very touching poem you have written, as many husbands have been lost in useless wars we never needed or wanted, right through history this would have been the ongoing thing there are no real winners in wars, as they all seemed to be created by political or religious views, all we all really want is to live our lives with our friends family and lovers, this poem is a good tribute to everything that has influenced our lives and impacted on many who have payed the ultimate price, while others feel the pain of the loss of their loved ones, the world we know can be a cruel place and it is up to us all to try to make a difference in the world we live in and to set the good example of kindness and love in life. Happy New year dear and I hope we can converse some more very soon. John

Thank you so much for your detailed input John and yes it is true, the real causes and ends of wars are so questionable. In fact I asked or told one friend of mine that: "ISN'T IT WAR AN ACT WHERE THE CAUSE NO ONE REALLY KNOWS?" anyways, thanks and Happy new Year also.
