Sleeping with Dogs
Tonight I sleep with dogs,
Laughter through midnight hour,
Darkness has got a price,
Listening to a swaying willow tree.
I'm sleeping with Charlie, Thomas and Bob,
Sweet scent from Jasmine flowers,
Shadows at my line of sight,
Hearing whispers spoken to me.
Watching K9s is now my job,
Until night shift is up and over,
Forget my worries and hunger pangs,
Tomorrow I sleep with dogs again.

About this poem:
dedicated to dogs handlersI am now one .....just in to my 2nd night
a new experience with these amazing fellows
literally sleeping and looking after them at night
I just started to write after some agonising time as a security officer this pass couple of months...
miss my poet family here ....so glad to be back finally

Watching K9s is now my job… Went with a friend to a rescued-dog adoption event this weekend and was reminded of the important work that others do. It's nice to read Sleeping with Dogs, Forget my worries and hunger pangs, and reflect on Shadows at my line of sight. Welcome back to Poet's Corner.
