Grand Parents

"Grand" Parents

I came from a broken home and was thrown from pillar to post. I would stay with an aunt and uncle for a time. Then with a lady-friend of my dad's. But the best time of my life growing up was when I got to stay with my grandparents. The part about the tomato is true. My grandpa would sometimes take a salt shaker with him in his shirt pocket when he went out to tend the garded. He'd pick a tomato, lick it and then sprinkle salt on it and eat it. Well, "monkey see, monkey do"! One day he went to the garden and I followed. I started eating cherry tomatoes. He noticed and said, "Hey! Stop eating the tomatoes". I replied "But, you eat them all the time!" And Grandpa said "You just wait for supper". So, I still had one cherry tomato left in my hand. And, he made me angry with his one-way business,so, I hauled off and threw that tomato at him whilst he was bent over. The tomato just missed hitting him in the head by an inch or so. I got so scared at the thought of what would have happened had I connected, that I almost peed my britches.

My Scottish Gran

My Scottish Gran’

I was so very fortunate growing up a young child to know a very sweet and loving grandmother, (Maggie), who taught me how to study nature and learn all the birds by their songs and all the flower names by the little rhymes she made up for them that grew along the roadside. She has been long gone now, but in my heart I will always cherish her.

Living In Two Worlds

Living In Two Worlds

Exercising that balance between work and home is a daily ritual for most of us.....this poem relfects on that.

One Good Family

One Good Family

I feel life on this planet is all about different tests that are sent to test us from God and how we deal with them as to whether or not God takes us under his wing after we pass on and of the people around us as to the help and guidence they supply to see if they are a genuine member of Gods family by the assistance they give us. The human race can only enter Gods kingdom if we all pull together and treat one another as part of one family and so I believe that life here is just one big test for us all before we can enter the Kingdom Of God. Sounds like I am a bible basher but truth is I am not, but do believe in treating others in the same way as I would like to be treated and that we are all one family who must interact and do Gods work to help each other pass the tests that God has set us in order fo the ultimate reward...ever lasting life.

DO NOT READ THIS

DO NOT READ THIS!

Wow! This one is WAY DIFFERENT from any of my usual styles. It felt like I was on a high as I wrote it, or rather, it wrote itself. I just arranged the words on a piece of brown paper bag as I sat at a bus stop. I believe the first time a child catches a parent in a lie, or observes them doing something immoral or illegal, they are very confused and sadly may even, like the child in this poem, question that parents love for them. And now for something completely different...Is the crying this little girl heard coming from outside or inside the house? Is it her mother? Her sister? Does she believe it could be her daddy that's making it happen. And what could this child possibly feel when she looks at him? She asks him twice if he loves her.

I wrote this for all the people that were affected by his passing........They too have passed.........Love and peace too all those suffering the atrocities of war around the world ........May it stop quickly so my sons and there sons can still appreciate the beauty of on ever diminishing world.....

Mama Quotes

Mama Quotes

I got lucky enough to see Vicki Lawrence in concert on November 5. She did half the show as herself and the other half as Mama Harper from the TV show Mama's Family. She said it was the first time she forgot to wear her glasses. I spent ten dollars the first time because the woman told me all the seat were sold out. Finding out later that she was confused and there were plenty of seats, I had to purchase two more tickets for 70 bucks and give the standing tickets to a friend of mine. At least I got three other people I knew to see her.
