Lightning skies

Darkness hails
Purple blue flashes
White lightning
Booms and cracks
Stretch across darkened skies
Hail wind blows gust those teeth of flashes
Boom s across lightning flashes
freezing rain lashes whips of light cracks the blackened sky
Dreams of night pure darkness rains
One Looks and stares one looks ponders the lightning and rain one seeks solitude one hides from the flashes darkness rains the boom and flashes morning descends lights up the sky glint of blue the sky's so bright rain has stopped peace regained

Silence Molds Clouds All Day

Silent shadows
running thru everglades,
Silence molds clouds
all-day

Silent moonlight
bouncing thru cypress trees,
Silence swings low thru
the gate

Yet
when my heart
is with you
its shield breaks
oh Lord how it breaks
in the most
tender way.

Silent snowflake
falling like a dancing ghost
Silence two steps across
the lake

Silent stones
cobble no thoughts,
Silence gives my heart
away

Oh! My Cripled Soul

Oh, My Crippled Soul!
Abandoning the thought of love is like a pitchfork that pierced a heart that didn't bleed
That which became my enemy was twice as bad
I smile crookedly at life, unapologetic if I am scared and scorned
Oh, my crippled soul!
Life is a cruel defense of love devastated by fantasy and ill will
Why does one love...is it not a miracle cure?
The soul cries out but has learned to hide the glaring darkness of misery and pain
Anger is the enemy, indifference is worse so widely known and celebrated by many
Suffering privately in silence looking for a sign or anything to be gained, just see me
Oh, my crippled soul!
Sassing through life is no reason to shout, it feels defenseless and so narrowly contained no one is celebrating.
There are no harmonies fashioned by time, just the same cold play playing for a different audience.
Piles and piles of life's junk heaped upon us just waiting to be discarded but it can no longer be ignored.
Oh, my crippled soul!
How did we learn to survive this unplumbed plight, is it leftover indignities handed down from generation to generation?
We quiver with fear in the hallows of surrender yet we can't cry out, who is there to listen or wipe away my tears?
Can fleeing save us; or deepen the blow, where can we go when the whole world is watching, no one is willing to save us not even YOU?
Oh, my crippled soul!

Remembering the Irish Famine !

Old lichen mottled headstones
Mark the graves of women and men,
Whose genocide sparked Ireland's
Freedom flame,
In their pallid hands
were shovels,
No schooling for a pen,
Fuelled by starving bellies
bow in shame.
Poverty stricken darkened days
of cruel and rampant blight,
The stench of rotten spuds
rose from the clay,
Cold families around a bleak turf fire
another hungry night,
Gaunt faces like potatoes
in decay.
A million sailed from homeland shores
Like wild absconding slaves,
In agony they fled to find relief,
And countless died on coffin ships
Then laid in watery graves,
Consumed by vile disease
And woeful grief.
But memory fades as time erodes
And youth won't recollect,
An hegemonic crown
That gorged on Irish grain,
Our ancestors the starving dead
Oppressed to genuflect,
Interred beneath cold seething clods,
Forgotten not their pain !

About this poem:
In 1845 more than 1 million people died
in Ireland from starvation when blight disease wiped out the potatoe crop. At the time Ireland was under British rule and suffered much oppression. To the present day the population hasn't recovered.

Spectre of the night

You feel a breath a icy chill
Cold to touch
You stand and stir on edge
Was something Thier
From corners eye you spy
This thing a person stands and stirs
Icy breath that chills your bones
You stand and watch for no person there they see you as you watch and stare
Cold to touch they follow you
Out the blue they gone from you
That spectre of the night
How it gave you a fright
Was that a ghost you seen tonight oh it did give you a fright

Enter the light i

I dreamed of light
A up hill tunnel so bright
Shines from heaven above
Voices heard from distant past
Familiar sounds Voices long gone
They sound familiar could be my mum
Long time gone taken in her prime
We dare not make a sound you listen to the sound as you follow the path of light your body lies motion gone now stiff to touch you lie the voices whisper come follow us you will have fun come to the light the jingle of keys locks now open do you want to follow us
Voice heard light shines so bright you try to focus blinded by the light your times not up go back from where you come
Motion regain breathing heavy
You back again from your journey to the light

Alone

Short days
Darkness surrounds
One sits alone hearing the echos the load noises the cars going bye from the world outside

One sits and dwells you are alone no one cares
No one knocks - are you ok
No rings your door to see if your ok
No one no one no one
Your once best friends your
Family
You once had a life
Now you sit and weep
No one cares your alone
You sit in the dark you hide
No one cares your alone

Malady

Its being lonely that hurts the most
The emptiness and loss of hope
Its sad this place I've come to dwell
I understand that I'm in hell
The bitterness envelops me
This tale of woe a tragedy
Lost amid the symphony
The darkest notes of melody
In the depths of my depravity
Afflicted with this... Malady

On winds of breath carried blown in the wind can't be seen can't be heard you are there unseen
life turned upside we hide inside alone in solitude in bubbles we hide from you the unseen you lurk waiting watching for the people who now live inside old young weak you waits you watches you don't care your the killer of the weak

Surf

5am.. I take my board
and smell the sky
the tide swims round
the breeze a spell
and says goodbye

the initial hit
of cold and salt
gives way to sound
I think of you
and your eyes of dew
fall on my ground

and all the stuff
we shared and did
just fades to grey
as you become
another girl
that got away

I couldn't stay
too long in town
it's just my way
and you became
the girl
from yesterday

seems I'm cursed
to new strands
and brand new seas
no matter how I try
that word goodbye
still blows the breeze

I guess I'm bad
at being true
I tried and tried
the sea is blue
and filled with tears
from girls who cried

another door
another boat
and another day
and a man who can't
seem to find
the words to stay

for everyone
that I let down
I say a prayer
but I know that life
can be a b*tch
and it ain't fair

the sea is cold
in January
it's cold in May
and you'll always be
the girl from yesterday
