Tranquillity

It is snowing tonight!
How beautiful it is!
Everything is so lovely!
The first snow of the year!

I was all set for bed
when I decided
to put out the light and
to look out the window.

The fresh snow on the ground
and on the housetops
unspoiled by man or beast
appears so peaceful and serene

I see a pine tree
and the upper portion
of its branches and needles
are gently covered with snow.

I have seen that same tree
many times before
but never has it looked
as lovely as it looks tonight.

Beauty never touching the ground

Sun shining bright
Life feels alright
Leaves all green
Flowers in bloom
Colors bursting
Birds chirping away,
Hummingbirds dancing around
Making musical sounds
Butterflies floating in the sky
Leaving their dust behind
Bees buzzing around
Wings never touching the ground
Not a day to frown
Happy to look around
Such beauty never touching the ground.

The Secret Glade

Within a forest in a glade,
Is Nature's finest green brocade,
It's nestled by a secret stream,
Inside the mirror of a dream.

If I should pause, to change direction,
Go to that place of soft reflection,
To sit beneath a sylvan bower,
Some dappled, sun splashed, shady hour,

A sacred glen, where Nature's free,
And shadows weave a tracery,
That laces through this hidden dell,
Where is that place? - I shall not tell.

In this green forest filled with trees,
Birds singing in their canopies,
Life is filled with extant power,
From trembling leaf to tip of flower,

Sun shining on a cloudless day,
Give me peace from the world's dismay,
To think a while in solitude,
An unspoiled place of rectitude,

I wish now for some sweet release,
And hope this song may never cease,
Within that wild and ancient glade,
Where lyrebirds sing in serenade,

In every leaf of every branch,
A gentle breeze will make them dance,
It's nestled by a secret stream,
My blissful sweet poetic dream.

Polar Bear

You may see him standing,
In the white glare of the Sunlight,
On wind-blasted panes of ice;-

A Winters' Sea compressed,
To float across the salty emptyness.

Now the Bear stands as a symbol;-
As solar light returns to white;-

Above a lattice artifice,
A crazed and crumbling edifice;-
The ice floes crashing to the sea,
From all the melting glaciers.

Haiku v Senryu

Haiku. 575 (Nature)

one spoonful of earth
teeming with tiny creatures
each with huge purpose

Senryu. 575 (Human Foibles)

youths stared down at phones
a full rainbow blessed the sky
alas they missed it

Glitter Stars

Waves of time moving across Space
Memories formed that
Trail behind us like a wake;
The future yet to come;

As glitter stars shine light,
Opon an Immensity;
We cannot comprehend

Jacaranda trees at night

The purple petals darken in the gloaming;-
In their flowered elegance, belles' dresses,
Fall in a slowly darkling Summer night;-
To the fecund loamy softness of the earth;
Where the purpleness dissolves into the air;-
And creatures stir.

Soft velvet carpet, clear Summer skies;-
Stars circle above, in the black eternal vault,
Mysterious. A full moon shimmy-shines,
It's radiant silver, to shower the trees.

Sparkle stars, hours pass, soft dawn encroaches;-
Diffuse flower fragrance kisses the sunrise;
Crystal dew drops refracting tiny rainbows;
And soft mist, from the ladies' purple dresses.

Blue Mountains

Time will crumble ancient sandstone ramparts -
In rocky ruin to the valley floor below;
Oldest forest spirit - the ghost departs-
Silver serpent in mountain stream will flow;-
Words could scarce do justice -nor any arts-
Grey gums, ghost gums - seldom winter snow;
Land so old - that time itself stood still -
I've always loved her - and I guess I always will.

Behold wild cliff faces - tumble down through time;-
Burnished orange in the Sun's reflected glow,
Her face turned to the light - in each season's clime;-
Tufts of mist 'cross each craggy rocky brow;-
Vapours dissolve in the morning sunshine -
Quick look at those clouds of cotton wool!
Before the day's full burning heat does banish-
All mists into the air do quickly vanish.

Gum trees wild and sprawling to the cliff's edge-
In a rough green carpet to the valley floor,
The windblown scrub and toughest mountain sedge -
A straight drop of six hundred feet or more;-
Step close to danger - on a sheer rocky ledge -
(An ancient sea - in a time long gone before)
Great mountain range now soft with a blue haze;
Eucalyptus dancing on the summer breeze.

About this poem:
The famous Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, about 60 km west of Sydney. The "Blue" colour is caused by the refraction of sunlight through a very fine vapour of eucalyptus oil given off by thousands of trees in the heat of the day.

Mother Nature Speaks.

Lush forest trees are hacked down every day,
For human gain that shows me disrespect,
But toxic mindsets have a price to pay,
When climate change disasters take effect.

With soaring carbon gasses on the rise,
My tears fall on the earth as acid rain,
Loud storms on swelling oceans are my cries,
Wild forest fires my raging, burning pain.

It's not too late for man to save the globe,
But mankind is a greedy, selfish beast,
Reluctant when there's remedies to probe,
Before the population lies deceased.

The warnings that I give your world Take Heed !
My name is Mother Nature, yours is Greed.

A Beautiful Day

Oh! it's a lovely beautiful day
which makes me all happy and gay
It comes with the crimson morn
and then takes me to the heavenly sojourn
The sun is shining in clear blue sky
it's beyond my thinking, up and high
This is the day of everyone's choice
who is that who does not rejoice?

One breezy day suddenly this simple idea came in my mind about the day. I had some sort of tranquil and ecstatic feeling at that time.
