Monkey See...Monkey Want

This monkey you
see was hungry.
He squirmed
down the drain
to where he saw
a box of cupcakes
right before him
with no one around.
He grabbed the box
and went up the
drain to the roof
to see what dinner
laid before thee.
He unwrapped them
1, 2, 3 he was
very happy.
He had gotten
something sweet
to eat for today
and maybe enough
for tomorrow too
for he knew he
would be hungry.

Falls Of Vash

The rain has washed
The rocks below
The river falls
The water flows
Green abounds
The worlds alive
Birds call in the day
Autum sunrise
The clean forest air
Wafts through the branches
The water sprays
The sunlight dances
The animals creep
To take a drink
The leaves rustle
The pebbles chink
The day passes
The twilight wavers
The sunset glows crimson
Day animals seek havens
The creatures of the night
Creep from home and burrow
To enjoy a forest world
Free from all sorrow
The moonlight kisses the waters edge
As the wind ripples the streams
The stars illuminate the sky
As the mist obscures the scene.

YASP (yet another spring poem)

birthed growing a new seasons creation
scattered yellow on this pollen nation

the arc of stretched out spring days
brings joyful growth and attitude craze

a sneeze, a tear, a cough of throat
a springtime exuberant sign and note

of children shouting, running the lawn
barefooted forgetting winter just gone

the mowers spurt and sputter anew
grass blades sound a whistling debut

seeds and bulbs and pods of green
a splendid springtime kind of thing

we all slept to spring equinox rebirth
to share another heavenly season on earth

sounds like the same old ending

Polynesian god of fertility, Tane
left lofty perch for earth as deign
gathered his subjects and did thus ordain
"we must sing to the heavens in sweet refrain"
"in hope for a blessing of desperate rain"
drought had plagued their grasses hain
fields now barren of vital grain
no bounty to fill and haul in wain
all earthly efforts done in vain
peasantry used all their strength to constrain
that human trait, the urge to complain
but was only hopeless, to hope to restrain
the crying out of voices in pain
man's limitations, Tane would not feign
on such parched, sad soil, could not remain
under dire circumstances, continued urbane
he returned on high to forever reign

in the first garden arose such pain
from Eve to Adam, to Abel from Cain
"sacrifice a lamb", God said, for to gain
in jealous rage, little brother was slain
his brother's keeper, Eden's bane
heaven's tears, earth's stain
cast out to roam upon the plain
and never a blessing from God obtain

there's a river in France, they call the Seine
fishermen fish for their fish with their seine
if their catch is poor, their spirit's wane
for soon hunger pangs drive them inane
they begin acting wildly insane
could wish clear thinking for their brain
since they and the fish are not to twain
go visit a diner and order chow mein

did you see the movie "Citizen Kane?"
or "Tarzan", brushing a lion's mane?
"Rosebud", the antithesis of Kane's vain
as "Boy" was the fruit of time lain with Jane
while Charles Foster would travel by train or by plane
would swing, "Lord of the Jungle," on a vinelike chain

to see a giant crane
clear a city street main
so that the water will drain,
or enjoy the image of a whooping crane
or a weather vane
along a country lane,
it's all in the same vein
you're really quite sane
be you Netherlands dane
or in Madrid Spain
for these visions you rein
cannot cause eye strain

I hope....

If I were a bird……..

I glided on a bird today
Not so much actual
More by words I’d say
And with it I felt
Ever so free
So let me explain
The story to thee
You see a gull came
Within my sight
Three feet away
Hovering in flight
Not a wing moved
As if frozen there
His view became mine
Did he want to share
For what seemed ages
Almost paralysed
I saw the world
Through his eyes
I tilted my head
To the right
To follow his
Line of sight
Then looked out
Straight ahead
As he had done
And I had read
Now to the left
I looked as well
We were one
I could only tell
Then the breeze
Picked up a bit
Just like that
He moved with it
And I was left
Staring there
With only but
My words to share ………

Shadows Of Time......

A tick-tock a magic clock, the hands connected to minds that divide days ,with a consistency that always was an always will be, a driving vision that sets forth the birth of new life ,the seas will fall an stars will rises again, water will flow like a wheel that spins with the help of the stinging wind that will die only to start again an again...........

Yesterday

Yesterday after the snow fell
The sun came out
Late in the afternoon glow
Shined onto my face
Weathered by time
Reddened by cold
Stared blankly back
Happy to feel your presence
I will watch as you circle
All around the horizon
I will watch where you rise
Remembering such times
From many years ago
Remembering in each season
When the shadows pointed
The same way all in a row
I will watch as you set
And remember which tree
On the distance shoreline
That you torched on fire
The way you did yesterday

dusk to dawn

from dusk to dawn, I stay
transfixed on natures view.
Its a type of awe that
gives you thoughts of
how amazing it is

from dusk to dawn i listen
to the birds in the early morning
til the afternoon, natures own musical
is an opera of instant gold.

from dusk to dawn i leave
i leave behind natures view
as it awaits me tomorrow
for it isnt always we stop and watch
natures view

The Finnish land

Mikä on mäen ja dale maan?
Se on niin kaunis,
Maa lakkaa kesäpäivinä,
Maa, jossa pohjoiset valot häipyvät,
Joka kauneus kaikkina vuodenaikoina,
Mikä maa on niin reilu?
Siellä on paljon tuhansia järviä
Hämmästyttäviä tähtiä yöllä
Siellä on paljon kanteleita
Ja kaikki ympärillä tekevät rinteistä laulaa
Ja kultaisen heath firs rengas:
Se on suomalainen maa.

Sinun taivas ei koskaan tule
Poistu muistiosta
Älä koskaan kirkkaan auringon tulta
Ei myöskään sinun kuusikulmassasi
Ei ole vieläkään puuvillasi, kun se ratsastaa
Pilvistä pilvistä.

Ja vielä nämä laaksot ovat kestäneet
Seasons, jolloin elämä oli kovaa,
Yöllä äkillistä pakkasta
Maissamme kylvettiin maissamme menetetty;
Mutta tuli toivoa kynnyksellä
Ja työ pyyhkäisi pakkaselta.

Ja näissä laaksoissa taas
Jotkut kauhut ovat olleet,
Teurastuksen aikana kuolema sai sodan
Ja maa nielaisi ihmisen ylhäältä;
Mutta monien sankareiden upea nimi
Lisätty Suomen maineeseen.

Ja nyt makea rakastettu maa
Onko meidän aikakautemme loppu:
On meidän kenttä, joka aaltoilee vapaasti,
Meidän niitty sen vehreys
Ja siellä meidän metsämme,
Kaikki omat meremme!

Lehtimetsä soi selkeästi
Mikä on onnellisuutta kuulla,
Kuten aamun ensimmäisessä valossa
Kautta se herää paimentolaisen sarvi,
Tai valloon, kun hämärä on pitkä
Tyttö laulaa laulunsa!

Nukahtaa syleilysi,
Unelma maisemista, mitä ihmeellisyyttä,
Oi meidän kehto, sinä hautamme,
Sinä uusi toivo, jota me ikinä kaipaamme,
Niemimaa niin kaunis,
Suomi aye meidän kaikkien!

WINTER ROSE

WINTER ROSE
a/k/a Christmas Rose (Helleborus)

Trees of the forest tall and proud
Standing bare in winter’s white shroud
Angel wings made of diamond frost
Until covered by a new blanket and lost

The forest quiet in long winter’s sleep
Only echoing once in a while a bird’s peep
Peace and tranquility here is abound
For the beautiful white blanket covers all sound

All inhabitants are sound asleep
As the moon shines down the white deep
Showing endless sparkling diamond dust
Of the cold frozen forest white crust

Suddenly a moon beam appeared to kiss
A lonely Winter Rose peeking through a drift
It’s creamy pink face the only color in sight
On this very cold crisp winter’s night
