Fall

The leaves dance as they fall to the ground dancing and twirling with the sign of life and energy

This is the life story of our lives

Have you seen the light

I see the light that shines on me it's not the sun but something within me
All my life I have seen this light is it my soul that my minds eye has in sight
I feel that the world is not what it seems I try to ignor it but its not that easy
Wars around the world they scare me have we learned nothing from history
why do we fight and kill and maim is it the same old story personal gain
Is this why our leaders are doing the same and make up ISIS as the blame
I want to believe that we are free but the way things are going how can we be
Governments are currupt that's plain to see nothing has changed accept for me
One day my soul will come full light and then I'll be free of the lord of the night.

Haiku 5 - aurora borealis, dancing fireflies

a buzzing bee
the sleeping dog awakens
then bolts from the room

dancing in the dark
fireflies paint lines of light
in exquisite designs

multi-coloured lights
searching the northern sky
aurora borealis

Summer fireworks

Why always be in a rush
To get somewhere?
Slow down and absorb
The colors, tastes and smells
Of summer
Tune in to the music
That is brewing inside
Write a song and sing it
When sun rises as birds do
Dance to the drumming
Of the rain
Catch and ride the ball
Of lightning
And watch it break
Into the fireworks
Of fireflies

About this poem:
The ball of lightning passed next to me. Luckily, I was not hurt, just shaken enough to write a poem.

no title (Rubaiyat)

not riches in gold like sultans crave
but heart be pure and soul be brave
shafts of arrows your thought engrave
while laying petals on Omar's grave

Kotare..The Kingfisher…Halcyon sancta

---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----

A Flash of Green
With hint of Blue
Ever so briefly seen
Through the trees it flew

Head of black
Bill cigar like, long
Thick ever so strong
But of song, a distinct lack

A shriek more like
A shrill 3 note
King, king, king
Oft is his quote

---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----

A lone figure
Often seen
On fence post
Near a stream

From this perch
He scans the view
And with a lurch
That flash of blue

He quickly returns
From whence he left
For a fish, he yearns
Successful.. rarely bereft.

Near the seaside
On a stone
His vantage point
He sits alone

Here he will wait
For a wandering crab
To gift to his mate
A quick but successful grab

With a breast of cream
Often tinged with rust
His head top heavy
And that bill, can thrust

To make the nest
Really more, a burrow
In rotten log or clay bank
With entrance narrow

---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----

Each bird takes it, in turn
To fly hard at the chosen site
Drilling with bill, then return
To a near perch, before next flight

The hole is drilled
With that strong beak
Birders are often thrilled
When seeing such a cyan streak

Lonely on a power line
Hunched with ruffled feather
Indicating the day so fine
Will change. foreboder of our weather

---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----

A wonderful father and lover
He often brings a captured lizard
Snatched from his hidden cover
To his mate, and her empty gizzard

---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----

Cicadas too and even mice
Are offered to the brood
The squawking is not nice
But distinctive, as they call for food

---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----

So this lovely New Zealand bird
Is more beautiful when seen
Than when the raucous call is heard
Much better is, that flash of green

The River

Know that as surely as the sun rises in the morning, to waken and warm a sleeping world,

The moon will follow in its place, its luminescence guiding us to our beds,

And the river will flow on.

That as surely as trees in the Spring give us an abundance of greenery to remind us of the coming summer,

The Fall will give us an artist's palette of color to warm us for the coming Winter,

And the river will flow on.

That as surely as man is born of woman, his entrance bringing cries of joy,

That man will leave this world, his exit bringing tears of love and remembrance,

And the river will flow on.

The river knows its beginning and knows it must flow on to meet its destiny, its end,

But its end is also a beginning, as the river flows into the sea to become part of a larger whole; life anew, stronger and more vibrant;

And the river will flow on.

Man also knows his beginning and knows his destiny will come to meet him as surely as the river flows; and knows that his end is but part of a larger beginning;

Man and the River, each flowing to meet their destiny;

Live life to the fullest and face your destiny with grace and serenity, secure in the knowledge, that like the river, your passing makes you part of a larger whole, and that as the strength of the goodness of your spirit flows through life, your spirit will live on after you.

Live long and breathe well.

About this poem:
I wrote this shortly after I moved from New Hampshire to West Virginia. I, at the time, lived in a motor home I had. I was staying in a mobile home park that was right next to a river. I listened to that river on a daily basis. I occasionally have moments when I like to ruminate on life and how it affects me, and, in one of those moments, wrote this.

WINTER SHROUD

Masts wave, through a veil of mist
Bob in the harbor, a mystery kissed
Caught in a swirling, shroud of white
Eerie the spectacle, hovering sight

Fog will lift, when out comes the sun
Later than normal, before mist runs
Back to its place, waiting dark
Leaving shoreline, edged by a park

Sailing boats, retained by moorings
Waiting a moment, to send sails soaring
Head out to sea, relaxing play-time
Stirred by wind, but looking fine

Then back to the harbour, bob and tug
Off ropes at jetties, for safety hug
Making fun scene, whether daytime or night
Allows locals and tourist, to smile in delight

When winter's, eerie mist arrives to coat
Its veil of secrecy, hiding all ropes
Tethered to hold, in numbered rows
Some with a dingy, behind them tow

Whatever the time, sea beauty remains
From ocean to club-house, friendship gains
Those swaying masts, that welcome eyes
That scour a coastline, as sea-lovers sigh......

Crisp and fresh, the climate remains
Off sea breezes, impossible to tame
Yet changes of seasons, time of day
Remind with memories, of sea-goers-play...

About this poem:
Auckland is of course the City of Sails...where many own some form of sailing boat in their lifetime.....but drape the scene in foggy mist, and eerie takes control......

ebb and flow

chaos and order, push and pull, ebb and flow
isn't it amazing, this world is full of opposing forces and yet
they seem to coexist flawlessly, expertly counter balancing one another
like a perfectly calibrated machine, a divine tapestry woven by the creator to give our lives meaning, the painstaking craftsmanship is evident in every thing we see, it's beauty is a blasphemy against science
because only an intelligent being could have designed such wonder
so when you step outside please stop and appreciate the beauty and wonder of our world, blessed be friends

IN All

in all of my search my heart has lingered through the dark times and thoughts has ran through my mind like blood through my veins , my days are longer and my heart pounds even faster , my choice is to stick by the little faith of surviving , a world so unsure yet so happy living so many confused in all we co exist and make struggle our companion for daily existence ,in all i;m grateful for the life i have and the one i've created , in all we live for the greater good .
