singin4U: It should be remembered, Conrad, that jvaski lives in one of the 3 or 4 Leftist states in the US. It is commonly referred to as the "LAND OF FRUITS AND NUTS" in the rest of the country. It is the home of Nancy Pilosi, and you have seen what a whakky Lady she is. For example, she is worried about the debt but spends over $200,00 Tax dollars a week flying back and forth to Calif. in the 747 Jet she demamded, the smaller jet was not good enough for her. One of the problems the Democratic party has to deal with is the influence Harvard University Socialist Professors has on the graduates like Obama. They are brain dead by the time they graduate. Anyone willing to research this will discover a shocking revelation.
Secret Service has bought two 1.1m dollar Buses for President Obama to cruise around and campaign from. Air Force One is getting jealous sitting on the tarmac someplace....that is right....J Biden and Michelle Obama need Air Force One for trips to Afghanistan and Spain.
So the President had to down scale to the RV world with the rest of the impoverished country. We have some nice trailer parks down here in Florida, were he can hooken up to the power and water. Add a some pink Flamigos out front to make the President feel at home.
The buses are painted a shiny black and with dark shaded (likely bullet proof glass). Kind of reminds you of a big and bad Hollywood scream movie vehicle with POTUS written on the hood.
So the next time you are cruisin down the interstate and two black buses cruise by doing 90+mph...don't giggle 911 to complain and ask for a high patrol man out there to stop em for a ticket. It the President in the lead bus....and when he tosses them over board.....REV Right, Rob Emanuel, Jones....etc etc etc......the second bus can hit em they bounce down the pavement.
I was on this site last night and posted in this thread and ended up dreaming of having a bbq at the white house. Never played any cricket on the white house lawn though. Obama seemed a decent bloke.

gininitaly: Whatever Al.
Seems reality is pretty relative these days.. based on smoke and mirrors and whose schtick you CHOOSE to believe. Reality, optional.
So if you call an apple an orange long enough.. does it become an orange? Because it doesn't really matter how many facts are thrown your way.. if they don't jive with your agenda... they're expendable.
Well if they don't jive with your agenda their expendable. You said the right was saying it but both parties are saying the same thing. The facts were right in front of you and you were the one who chose to ignore them by picking only one.
potarick: And what's wrong if he is a socialist? It is a much better system than Capitalism - if the leader in question can be trusted!
Are you speaking about western socialism or communism (what most westerners, especially Americans are thinking about when they refer to socialism)?
If you are referring to communism, then while there are some positive aspects to, it cannot be denied that the lack of freedoms far outway their positive influence.
I am not so fussed about the 'leader' issue. The reality is that in both market and controlled economies you have the ability for factions to be established. In the west we call them 'boys clubs'. These factions are just as capable of controlling a government if we allow them to. Half of theses threads are complaining about them.
If you are referring to western socialism, well at least in such a system we retain our right to vote and the reality is that if people WILL NOT vote and instead just complain about social policy and how it is raising their taxes then they are not really achieving anything.
I really feel sorry for US citizens. I am not having ago at the US par se as I think its a great country, but I feel sorry for US citizens just the same. Why? Because when you are raised you have it jammed into you that your 'the best country in the world' and 'living the American dream'.
Why then do you pay so much tax? It's very handy to educate the public into believing they have it so good if as a result they don't complain about things like high tax. After all - why would they complain - they think they have it so good!
Again I am not having a go at the US, but I think your law makers in DC from both the left and the right really get away with murder sometimes. No wonder they don't want to make voting compulsory.
Sila: Virtue, good conduct, morality. This is based on two fundamental principles:
* The principle of equality: that all living entities are equal.
*The principle of reciprocity: This is the "Golden Rule" in Christianity -- to do onto others as you would wish them to do onto you. It is found in all major religions.
Samadhi: Concentration, meditation, mental development. Developing one's mind is the path to wisdom which in turn leads to personal freedom. Mental development also strengthens and controls our mind; this helps us maintain good conduct.
Prajna: Discernment, insight, wisdom, enlightenment. This is the real heart of Buddhism. Wisdom will emerge if your mind is pure and calm.
Seems you do waver often from the path there Al. That 'some' are more equal than others does tend to be a repetitive strand in your rational... a question of discernment from what I understand.

Please support this 'some are more equal than others' contention with some quotes because as it stands right now, you're a liar.
As for Buddhism, guess I'm about as good at it as you are at proving points with facts. Perhaps you might go to a religious thread with this problem you have but here, your political debating skills are quite wanting.
In your case 'facts' are a simply a filtered perception, if someone gives them you don't consider them or read them... and you seem to bandy about the 'liar' word so easily, one does wonder if you ever look in your own cupboards to check if there are a few of your own misconceptions running around?
If I recall the question was "Is Obama a socialist?"
My take is that maybe once, in a place far far away and long ago he could have been... but today he is owned by the banks, so I guess that makes him 'bought', just as the democratic ideal has been for the benefit and control of a few whose only politic is greed at the expense of most.
What function is a government supposed to have? The welfare of ALL it's citizens... so I guess that makes any government socialist... acknowledge it. But then of course there is OUR government, not yours btw... which has gone heartily twisted and broken... and is oozing happily into a dictatorship by the money holders and lenders.

gininitaly: You know Al if the truth hit you in the head with a hammer.. you'd say prove it was a hammer instead of focusing on the issue.
Well, the truth won't come from you on this political thread it seems. I asked you to provide substantiation as to where I said some are more equal than others and of course you have nothing.
gininitaly: I quoted exactly what the Buddhist website said were the 3 principle practices and trainings of Buddhism... are you saying they are wrong?
Thought you got the gist - I'm a crappy Buddhist. Not as crappy as you are a political debater but crappy nonetheless.

I deal in facts. You said "That 'some' are more equal than others does tend to be a repetitive strand in your rational.." and I asked you to provide some proof in the form of me stating so. You have not so we have to surmise you are a liar.
Now, you have the 'repetitive' quotes or not? If you do have a bunch of them, let us see them and receive an apology but if you don't, then you are a liar. Plain and simple.
gininitaly: If I recall the question was "Is Obama a socialist?"
Then why on earth are you talking about items on other people's profiles?

Well Gin, afraid that this is an international forum so, if you don't like who is on the threads answering the questions, you are free to run and hide - even to Italy if you like.

As stated, I'm the worst Buddhist that ever lived. However, I just checked your profile to see if you had a religion and noticed you believe in nothing so, no wonder you lied about what I have said as the truth is obviously low on your priority list.
Proof of my statements please. Or, is everything you utter complete garbage?
jvaski: Maybe you should google what presidents spent the most during their reigns..........You'll find your buddy BUSH was a close second to Obama...and he didn't have then mess that he left Obama to deal with....
If you leave out the failure of Clinton to address terrorism and his end of term recession. Otherwise, you're "kinda" correct. (maybe google that instead of watching MSNBC)

Not even close to it JV,but accounting doesn't seem to be your strong point!
