Having food delivered to your home or business is a convenience provided for you so you do not have to cook or stop what you are doing and get the food yourself.
It used to be that delivery drivers got paid minimum wage. Not anymore. Most places are now paying the drivers as little as $4.75 an hour.
The delivery driver is just like your waiter/waitress at a restaurant. Only in this case he has to drive to your place. She has to look out for other drivers, children and animals. Not to mention driving in the rain, snow, sleet and the dark of night. They have to obey the speed limits and other rules of the road.
In most cases he drives his own car, pays for the gas, maintenance and insurance out of his pocket. With the price of gas so high it is costing the drivers double what it did just a year ago.
Please, TIP the delivery person. They work hard for you.

Nope.
There's almost always a delivery charge... that's what pays the delivery guy/gal.

That's a huge misunderstanding. The delivery charge is not a TIP. A TIP is something you pay out of the kindness of your heart. Even if the driver is getting a commission per delivery it is still not a TIP. The delivery charge goes to the store, not the driver.

Uh... no... it's clearly stated on the menus that the 'delivery charge' goes to the driver. It even gives differing amounts depending on the distance the pizza(s) have to travel.

Such a debate... I will vote this #1 primitive poll.

I tip 5 bucks for sure. When I go out to eat at a restaurant, I tip very well. I've always been a very healthy tipper. Waitresses remember that and my service is always good when I go back.
we do not live in a tipping culture, but it does happen like when you go out to dinner, but pizza, it cost 6-7 dollars to pick up a pizza but 12 plus to get it delivered, ( depending on the day )
To be honest, I never gave a pizza man a tip before as the bill includes delivery charges. One day, I waited for a pizza man for almost one hour, but he didn't show up. So I rang a man in charge. I was shocked when he told me that my pizza man got an accident on the way to my place. Since then, I always give tips at least 15% of the bill to any pizza man..
I very seldom order pizza or other foods delivered by delivery people. I for one do not like that now they tack a delivery charge onto my order when I do. But since it is a once in a while thing for me I do tip generously. In my area a lot of the delivery people are young people with families and right now it is hard to make ends meet. Now if it was my hairdresser I can assure you I tip well enough she smiles when she sees me walk through the door. But would you not tip someone who is holding a sharp object close to your throat and ears?
i dont tip in restaurants or anywhere else no im not mean just think service should be good and its not my fault how much people earn and if i go out which is rareley cannot afford to tip anyway earn little my self. i work in a supermarket wee dont get tips yet we provide first class ervice for our customers.
