Fascinating nearly half the people voting believe life begins at conception yet not one of them has the courage to defend the MIS vote?
I wonder how many of them would be prepared to sit with am eight, nine or ten year old girl and explain that because of their own beliefs, not the childs, theyu are prepared to put that childs life at risk? How many of them would sit with a woman with an ectopic pregnancy and explain that their religious beliefs are more important than that womans health or ability to have children later in life. Me and my daughter are NOT Christians, how dare you try to force your religious beliefs upon me! If you are prepared to put your own or your childrens lives at risk for the 'potential' life then that is your choice, don't you dare try to impose your choices on my family!

So, when are you moving to Mississippi? May I suggest Mayflower. Their prices are reasonable and they do a good job of packing fragile items.

Nobody's trying to "force religion" on you. You are free to believe or not believe whatever you choose.
But society (whatever its views may be) always claims the right to set limits on human conduct. And even if people don't agree on those rules they are compelled to abide by them or face the consequences.
So get off your high horse. You are not Rambo, and you look silly trying to act like you are.
Learn to use reason and logic to try to support your views. Thumping your chest doesn't impress or frighten anybody.
Conrad73: Interesting that you Guys who are most vociferous about Rand rely nearly entirely on what other People think and wrote about her!
It's because people who have the intelligence to see through her blatant sociopathic insanity also have the intelligence to search the internet for quotes that demonstrate that insanity.
Why waste time composing from memory when the basic material for preparing a good exposé already exist within easy reach. Personally I don't see much point in wasting my own effort on Rand.
Both she and Jesus lived their lives, expounded their beliefs, collected disciples, and then passed on into the spirit world.
Time will tell which of them was right about things.
Jesus died about 2000 years ago, and his ideas are still going strong.
I wonder if any of you disciples of Ayn Rand will still be around even 10 years from now. I sincerely doubt it.

Ray,those Conspiracy-Theories are getting to you! You see them around every corner now! If anything,we are getting stronger! Kind of exasperates you Guys, ain't it?
Actually Conrad, I look forward to the day you and your fellow Randians try to set up your dystopian kingdom of selfishness. It will be the biggest failure in all history.

You know very well that Rand didn't propose Fullterm abortions! rarely anyone does! But implying that she did is just another way to demonize anything that does not fit in your rather narrow welt-anschauung! BTW,have a look at the Austrian School of Economics!

A legitmate argument could be made that even after birth of a child the mother should have right to terminate the life, it seems to me. If the fetus has no standing and is dependent on the mother prior to birth, it sure doesn't change much for the 1st few years of life. It's still dependent and serves no real purpose.
for the religious there is a free film called 180 degrees turn. it has an interesting moral spin. what if the baby is deformed and you have to quit work to look after an adult dependant? even then where do you draw the line? is someone that is missing a chromosome 100% human? are they a person if they do not have the intellectual ability to contemplate their own existence? i believe you should have the freedom to do what you you believe in and not force your beliefs onto others. in nz when abortions were illegal and done on the dodgy there was no safety for woman getting it done illegally. think about that.
i believe the topic was: when does a human being become a person.i believe i sated that, i'm not telling anyone what to do with there body or their unborn baby. that is up to them.

Life begins when the fetus is severed from the umblicial cord... when it can survive on it's own without nourishment from the cord.
Conrad73: In legal standing,it becomes a person at Birth!
But therein lies the issue. Why should it even have legal standing? It's just as dependent on the mother after birth as it was 10 minutes before the birth. Common sense logic would tell me that it could be destroyed after leaving the birth canal.
Conrad73: Common sense tells me to not destroy one of my own,and that IMO goes back a few months before Birth, when the potential Life is advanced enough, that it would be unethical to destroy that life, except in a dire medical emergency!
But therein is the flaw, what common sense tells one person, it may not tell the other. A female could make a very legitimate claim after the fact that the child is her property (as it was before birth), therefore she has the right to make a decision on it's "future" or lack thereof.

Class5: It's sad that the most vociferous anti-abortionists are usually men.
Dunno about that. Was watching the news a few minutes ago. The black female being interviewed was on a pretty big roll about it. (A resident of the state)
