mcattack: We all need some sort of physical attraction for a relationship to work...
Do you think your usual standards have dropped since joining a dating site??
To be honest i think mens standards have dropped while womens have gone up!!
What do you think??
I'm keepin my standards but I've found that women very definitely have upped theirs (standards I mean ) If I asked them to 'move the goalposts' they'd say , "F'#k off and move them yourself

I wouldn't say they've dropped, or has anything to do with being on the site. Personally my standards have changed with age and experiences. Nothing to do with looks or status etc, but more to do with how I allow myself to be treated.
Me personally, i don't have standards, if someone is pretty in my eyes then that does me...
Is there such a thing as leagues though?? You know the saying.."ah she's waaaaay out of my league"..would you approach someone who you thought was out of your league?? (as in too good looking for you)

Am not sure how that is not a standard. What we are attracted to is what we are attracted to. I would imagine the same would apply to most people on this site. Is that not a standard we aspire to and we either look for that or we drop our standards and 'settle' for someone we do not find pretty ?

Not really when it comes to looks. Maybe to financial status

mcattack: It's not a standard, i think a standard is a measure of comparison?? is it not??
It has a lot of meanings really and depends on whether its used as an adjective or a noun
However I have standards when it comes to who I am attracted to and I would suggest everyone, including you, does. For example I would not be interested in someone who's hygiene is gross.
I was only using 'standard' as how you applied it in your thread question.
But thats off topic. I was interested to find why you think mens standards have dropped yet womens have become higher because I have not found that. Genuinely interested.
i dont know i think our standards change as we get older , im happy for first time in ages , i like my own company and now it would take a very special person to enter into it. It depends on who you are and how happy a person you are as to the standards you set
mcattack: Do you think women are more pickier though??
i have never found them too picky to be honest, i would say with alot of them they have a sort of checklist and if ya pass that, your on the ball, i think you have to be selective in who you mail then the results are better
i agree you see verygoodlooking guys with women who normal looking guys would go for in bar or pub but you never see a verygooodlooking women with normal looking guy on less hes rich or famous i think it even very hrad for verygoodlooking guys to even get verygoodlooking women so what chance have us normal looking guys got if women are too picky

I just think men let their standards drop a lot more than women, this is nothing that i've experienced, i'm just talking about thigs that i've seen, like friends and relatives and stuff and i think it happens more on a dating site...a lot of men use this a last resort and so will take anything (not all men) whereas women (i think) are a lot more picky!!
I'm sorry Mac, I was genuinely interested Bud
I suppose some people might use sites like this as a last resort but I don't and never have. I think people use it as a way of meeting new people and if it works great, if not they still socialise as normal. Personally I have found it to be different. Men are more comfortable using dating sites whereas more women do use them more grudgingly. I hope thats not a generalisation

either that or im getting mature !!! God forbid!!
Well done you. Finding contentment and fulfillment is something only some of us aspire to.
70Libra: That is very true. Most women haven't cottoned on to that fact and so haven't taken advantage of it. I reckon men would be far more satisfied (no pun intended) if they did.
Nooooooo
The whole natural order of things would be disrupted. The earth would fall off its axis

Sure its always been the same even long before internet dating became popular. Men are horngogs, thats the reason it would never work on Take Me Out as none of them would turn off their light. But yeah some women seem to be very picky when you read their profile, if your not Brad Pitts brother then forget it. Funny part is that most of them would be average looking at best.
