Because that's what God and Jesus say will happen, so yes that is part of the teaching. The other part is that you and I and everybody else has turned from God's way and that is totally unacceptable to him. But the great love of God is that he provided a way in which he can remain just and forgive you. It's done. Believe it or not. Your choice but yes the consequences of not getting saved are a lake of fire.

You must be one of those that doesn't care what their child does. If they treat you bad and don't love you back, it's ok because hey that's what God would do. Let's forgive the murderers and rapists too. Don't send them to jail. Love them and let them go free.
God is just and great and his punishment is likewise great. But his mercy and love is even greater to forgive you no matter what and reward you. Believe it or not. Science is theories not fact. THEY create the instruments by which THEY test for the supposed facts of how long ago something happened. Yes I pray when I'm sick but also use doctors, usually holistic doctors that suggest healing with natural products. But I have used other meds when absolutely needed. I think science is great and have made many advances. But realistically can you fathom even 10,000 years let alone 60 billion years? That figure keeps changing BTW. Science doesn't know it all and never will. Let them smart guys create something that thinks on it's own and pro-creates. Shouldn't be too difficult since it was able to "just happen" at one time.

President Nixon and Congress both gave the EPA powers to effectively influence the improvements notable in our country by using valid defined environmental quality standards and ways to sustain them.
There was a day we could walk into any company, unrestricted, and shut their operations down without even having a law enforcement officer with us. Any action like this could occur simply based on visible emissions smoke stack observations or effluent streams observations. I didn't like being part of that cowboy/cowgirl enforcement activity.
The Earth will be in whatever condition that geological processes dictate.
Life on Earth is a different story, as habitats and species and consigned to the history books in what will be called the minor extinction.. a period in the Earths history where humans overpopulated and thought they could wreak havoc with no consequences.
