Checkers101: Okay before anyone gets the idea that I am going to go patriotic here I just want to know because before I came to visit Europe I was under the conception that everyone wants to live in America.
Give me a Traders job on Wall Street and an Apartment in Manhattan, and a little retreat on Long Island.... and I'll think very strongly about relocating.

Hahaha ..... you listed the three places I'd least like to live in the USA because of the corruption, egos and life styles in the boroughs, respectively.

don't forget the u.s. congress is wanting to pass a work and immigration bill that doesn't allow u.s. dollars earned here to leave this country w/o paying another liberty tax that supports our military troops abroad and recovering veterans at home.

Oh it's ok. I live a spartan lifestyle as it is. Simpler that way.
galrads: Stay in Canada. You wouldn't fit in here for sure unless you learn at least learn to read before typing the crud you type.
You're right, I wouldn't fit in with morons like yourself, but thankfully you're not representative of the majority of the people in your country. There are a lot of good people in the US, I just don't class you as one of them.

You don't know me, yet you're placing labels on me and calling me names .. Men in white coats will find they have to pull you from the ceiling after you read this.

You're right, I don't know you personally, all I see is what you post on the firums, and that's what I base my conclusions on. It's not labels, calling names, it's just what I see you portray yourself as.
It's up to you to change that perception, unless you like having the world see you as a knuckle dragger.

i wonder, do you think you speak for everyone on CS? :hmmmm: Please find someone else to explain your universe too. Hey, you seem full of magic aren't you. Im impressed. Mr. magic could fit you well. Ok, so lets see your disappearing act.
montemonte: I don't think everyone wants to live in the United States.
Most are content and reasonably happy in their own country.
I agree with you Monte.
How many are ready to leave the people they love behind, just to be able to live in the USA? USA won’t disappear; it’ll always be open for you to visit as a tourist. It's a great country to visit!
visited America twice and enjoyed both times, but would not want to live there,,at least not in a big city, things i have heard suggest its a hard place to live

I wish I was, but many people are not happy in my country which has fashioned itself in American style - few labour rights, little social protection, low wages, etc. As a result, large part of working age population is gone to work and live elsewhere - UK, Ireland, Germany, Norway. The country is visibly empty and demographical disaster is no more than a decade away. It is the fault of our governments who chose American development path and not more people friendly way of Scandinavian countries, for example. It did not occur to them that the borders are open and there are better conditions in Europe.
Speaking about moving to the US - no way. It is a country with uncertain future, heavily indebted, with many people living in deep poverty and no access to healthcare, with political system only representing interests of very few individuals and companies. Not an attractive place to live. I would go on a long trip, however, to see the wonderful sights and visit New York with all the cultural activities it offers.

well, there are a few of us who would uproot and move, even if it means leaving people behind. jumping on an airplane and flying home is an option if everything doesnt go to plan
kidatheart: I realise you're an idiot, but please, do tell me where he bashed the US in his remarks? Or are you just trying even harder to be an a**hole?
I read things such as, " I love my home and I am loyal to my country" and, " its my home and I love it and am anxious to be back home" from the OP, about the US.
As for the question, no, I wouldn't want to live in the US, never have. I have travelled there extensively, and like visiting, met loads of nice people across the entire country, but I prefer Canada.
I would however consider moving to a few places in Europe, or maybe even Australia or perhaps South America.
o yes Canada - the greatest country on earth i know the us quite well but i don't want to live there i have friends and family there but i prefer canada
equiya: o yes Canada - the greatest country on earth....
I lived and worked in Canada (Alberta) for almost a year when I was 20. From my point of view Canada felt more like northern Europe (or home) than USA.
The USA is a huge country with a huge diversity in people's and cultures the landscape also has great diversity. I am sure if almost anyone wished they could find somewhere that they might feel comfortable. Personally I feel no wish to live there I live in a beautiful country with great freedom so there is neither the need or the desire is there.

I've travelled a little in the US and loved it. Saw the Grand Canyon, Yosemite Nat Pk., Disneyland. Very friendly people. I saw a few negative things but mainly impressed. However, Australia is home, with all its faults. I wouldn't want to leave. I can understand people who live in poverty stricken countries might want to go to the US and strike it rich, (so they think.)
Some say that the USA is only a layover for "CANADA" as final destination. But this is not talked about very often. Only a select few are allowed to live there. Once we tried to pretend that Alaska was "CANADA" but most people figured it out, mostly.

Checkers101: ...before I came to visit Europe I was under the conception that everyone wants to live in America.
This seems to be propagated by the media and politicians who tell us it sucks everywhere else.
I'm going to hazard a guess there are good and bad things about most countries.
Checkers101: I love my home and I am loyal to my country and I wonder if people feel the same about their home country.
I'll hazard another guess, that people generally like the security of familiarity of their home country. I'm currently looking to move to a different valley and most people round here are shocked by that.
There are things I love about living here in Wales, but loving the country of Wales seems a bit odd to me.
I also love some of the people who live in Wales, which is perhaps the most salient factor in terms of where I live.
Checkers101: As screwed up as the US is in some ways its my home and I love it and am anxious to be back home. I think everyone should visit other countries if for no other reason than to better appreciate their own.
I have an ambition to visit America, but that's because I want to meet a couple of people who live there, not because I want to meet some rocks, or grass.
I have been told the sky is bigger on your side of the pond, though, and I'm very curious to see that.
Probably there are many people out there which want to leave their homelands. Thank God I am not one of them. Been around the world but always felt best at home.
