In Florida an employer can "fire" you "at will" even if it's wrongful termination. If the employer has less than five employees the law protect that employer even if they so false accusations. Attorneys do not take that kind of cases because is less than five employees. You can't get a chance to prove that they are wrong. There is just one office for that employer in Florida, the Office Manager works from home in Georgia and the employer has an employee in charge of the office. I think is wrong.

Florida is not alone. There are many other 'at will' states. This state allows any employer to fire anyone, for any reason, even no reason.
We work for them, the boss doesn't work for us. That's just the way it is.

In Ohio you can only be fired on the spot for three reasons----Stealing, Insubordination( not doing what you are told to do) and being fired without warning notices that you are not performing your job. Sounds like Florida is all screwed up, but why are these losses of jobs the same in each state? These issues and differences in each state are never brought up in the government and it should be. Maybe unemployment would decrease.

Oklahoma is a "right to work" state.
They can fire you for no reason at all and that's just the way it is.

NO!!!very mad

U.S. Government was designed that way, that each State could have its own individual way of doing things. This keeps the people in control of the government to run things their way where they live.

That's exactly the problem in this country right now... The Federal Government is trying to tell the States the way it has to be done for everyone.

Just because a State on the eastern seaboard and its people decide they need certain laws due to their population and crime rate and it well may be necessary for them; it does not mean that those in the midwest with low population and little crime would need the same types of laws.

People have different moral codes in different areas and they think differently about things and live different lifestyles. They have a right to make the laws according to their district. A government of the people and for the people.

If you don't like the laws where you live, get involved with your City Council and try to make changes there. Also, keep in close contact with your State Representatives, voicing your concerns. If you still aren't happy, then move to an area that has your concerns at heart.

That's the way this nation was set up and the way it should remain. The Federal Government already has its hands into too much of the States business. Socialism, Marxism and Fascism is NOT the way to go.

NOT in AMERICA!!!

@Don216....your link you asked for

Florida has been this way for decades. It helps the removal of many unions, therefore keeping (me) the worker under control making it more able for them to pay much lower wages than what an employ is worth. Tho I do get paid well I am one of the few in my area that does. Most do not even make a livable wage which once more falls back on the working class (the majority) to suffer the loss for then our tax dollars are being used to help them rather on other things that it should be. Once more grab my ankles bend over and smile devil So just another way of keeping the working class under the thumb of the not so. hmmm By the way you are suppose to act like you do not know this. the one thing the op has wrong is on a lot of the cases one can draw unemployment. and I have seen this in the last five years repeatedly. In Florida you can draw unemployment even if you are terminated. But it must be a termination that is not due to something silly such as excessive absenses not due to illness, coming in late, or stealing things of this nature. So wake up Floridians if you are wrongfully fired file for unemployment. You pay into it as a tax payer by all means exercise your right. Each states unemployment is also different here (for those out of the country). uh oh So there is really no such thing as job securitye.

Is it common in your country to judge people by their family and not by their own merit? Or is it you just being narrow minded? Please don't think I am being argumentive. I just don't understand a post like this. uh oh

Hate to break it to ya, but that is the case in many states, and it is not isolated to only 5 employees. In "Right To Work" states, (a slyly worded phrase which simply means the employer has the rights, not the employee...by the way..) an employee can be dismissed without any warnings, verbal or written, at the employers discretion, which may remain confidential, i.e. no reason is required, actually. Local and National governments are reluctant to intervene, as are attorneys, because it gives the appearance of businesses not being allowed to conduct their daily routines unfettered. This in itself does have some merit, actually. (If I owned a ranch and had five employees, and one just wasn't getting along with others, stirring the pot, so to speak, I would want the right to dismiss him without being hassled for it. Wouldn't you?) I agree that an employer has an unfair perogative in the matter, and it is rotten that a perfectly good employee can be dismissed simply because a pet employee and his/her toadies don't like them.
