MarsMan: If no one got killed, and no one suffered debilitating injury because I held a door open, then that is all I really need to know, I don't care if some of the PC brigades feathers get ruffled or their egos get bruised, like I said, if they don't like me holding the door open, I got no problem slamming it in their face.
I have no problem slamming a door in their face if they cannot accept a common courtesy, I have held open doors and got a cold hard stare for doing so, amazing how the feminists can infect some minds and twist nice things into something evil,I open doors for everyone.

Would be interesting to know whether same female who gave you that cold hard stare would have given same cold hard stare to another female opening the door for her writing
For if she felt you were belittling her, then surely another female would have belittled her same way? confused

Also found the article interesting in its use of 'enlightened male' term.

Need super through some doors to buy stuffs, thank you all who contributed with your opinions heart wings teddybear

I always hold the door open for others, why would you not?
I always say thank you if someone holds the door open for me, whether its a stranger, friend or date. I'm nice, most of the time gingerbread

tinyfangs: I forgot to comment on this when I saw your post.

I don't care if someone says 'dear' (or deer), but I do object to anyone saying MY dear when they have no 'property' rights. No claim has been staked that has been accepted, so 'my' is totally inappropriate.

And to anyone who feels to immediatly start huffing and to lecture me on that no one is ever another's property, imagine me putting a middle finger up (just to test wind direction, honestly! ) because when I truly love someone I belong to that someone. I declare myself willingly and wantingly the property of that someone, same as I would need the other do such in return, for else it is just a relationshop of free and independant agents, and that to me somehow is not a true loving relationship but people handle things differently, and each to their own
Well said dear thumbs up

I always hold the door open for people coming through the door behind me,or allow someone carrying something or pushing a buggy/trolley through before, its simple manners and costs nothing to be nice to someone be they male or female....and as for gifts to men such as flowers or chocolates my other half got a teddybear holding a love heart,a box of chocolates and a bouquet of lollypops (as he doesnt like flowers)for valentines day

It's common courtesy for me to hold a door open for the person walking behind me.

I do appreciate a man showing me courtesy btw. (if someone doesn't I wouldn't be interested anyway) and he can expect the same in return. wine

certainly wouldn't slam the door in someones face if they were walking behind me that would be rude but I wouldn't go out of my way to hold a door open for anybody never mind a woman..sure they want equality and all that crap don't they well they can open doors themselves..not like they've no arms is it grin

I like when men hold doors open, and I would love someone to carry heavy packages. My back and neck hurts from having to do it for many years.

I do this most of the time. Then again I often do this for other men too. I do it because it's the polite and mannerly thing to do, not because someone's got a cha cha rather than a woohoodilly.

Exactly Scriobh, I don't hold a door open because the person approaching is a lady, I hold the door open because I am a gentleman.tip hat
