Del.Yes I have plenty of times and it's like a shooting range up there. My Aunt and Uncle used to live there many years ago and nothing has changed there.
One time my guy and I were heading up to Port Huron,Michigan to where I traced my Grandparents to have lived many many years ago and had no choice but travel in the Detroit area and it was dark time and very scary. We now don't travel any farther then Northern Ohio which is close to Lake Erie.
bodleing2: Some more dangerous than others...might be to do with the amount of firearms around...according to this list the United States is only slightly more peaceful than Angola...
first of all I don't like Wikipedia, just for the fact that so many people can change and alter the meaning of everything, so therefore I can't see it being facts, just a blob of a bunch of opinions.
Firearms have nothing to do with it...good grief firearms have been around, well forever almost...not buying that at all
SoonerGal: I'm really scared around here though, the use of meth and bath salts is running crazy...they are even stealing batteries out of solar yard lights to make meth with...and users just busting into peoples houses not caring if they are home or not, here in Ponca we have had 3 cases just in the last 2 months...when they are on those drugs, I don't think nothing will stop them...pretty scary
I feel pretty safe where I live where there's a senior center about a block away so I doubt if they're going to have a shootout anytime soon.

about 2 weeks ago in Ponca a young kid on meth took a sledgehammer and went downtown to the senior citizens center and started knocking out windows and then after he did that he got in the road and was trying to hit vehicles!!
I know what your talking about . listen to Detroit news every morning just to get the latest weather. but every day there is some one killed. every day! no thanks not a place for me to live.

I wonder where the parents were all that time.Probably doing drugs themselves.

Been there many times Ccincy, I can guaranty you that I was packing. Rarely carried a handgun outside the city, but Detroit had a high incidence of carjacking and mugging. Not far from Toledo with I-75.
yes, ofcourse any firearm they want. How about some stinger? Maybe also some chemical weapons or some mini-nukes.A good idea will be to have a private army also. This all is a good idea. Weapons bring peace. And eternal silence.

that's pretty radical...we are not talking about an arsenal I have the right to defend myself, and I will

I'm sure you were packing.Been up I-75 traveling Northeast so many times and know what you mean.Drove in Toledo many times too on the way to Sandusky,Port Clinton etc. While traveling west from Veterans Glass City Skyway which is also known as the Toledo Skyway Bridge back to I-75 south towards home some of that area doesn't look all the good either.

Weapons don't bring peace obviously but sometimes one can come in handy.
There are some parts of a downtown parts of a city I've seen that you many need a tank.AS I was telling another poster that I'm so thankful I live far enough away from the city of Downtown Ohio that I'm not in that mess.

Went to the Detroit Federal Building once, stayed 25mn and my car was gone, stolen. Had to get a ride from a cop friend in a cruiser. If you ever been in the main police station downtown, it is a war zone.
i believe that the average law abiding citizen should have the right to bare any firearm to protect themselves,go hunting and for target practice. the right is protected by the second amendment which is currently under attack by liberals who want the 2nd amendment to be stripped away from the bill of rights. also it is being attacked by this regime who is running this nation like a dictatorship.i am referring to mayor of new york, the gov of new york, sen. boxer.sen feinstein, sen schumer, the idiot in the white and other left wing anti-second amendment nuts

No have never been in the downtown police station and I can only imagine.
There used to be a tv show about some pawn in the Detroit area and there were some funny looking characters on there. When the camera showed some of the city I was in shock and aww at all the run down buildings.Reminded me of downtown Cincy.
I feel a lot safer living in North West Ohio, much safer. No drug dealers or crime.

Wiki seems to be showing the same GPI chart as other sites.
it was my intension to write it like this Ihave been in very dangerous places, been in 2 countries during war time. Sometimes i had a loaded kalaschnikow in my back.So hard that my back turned blue.My friends adviced me to take a gun with me, so that i could defend myself.I was so glad that i never had a weapon on me.If i would have had a weapon on me , then i am sure that i would not be here now. I dont need a weapon,i can defend myself without a gun,i always did. I will never understand that there are ppl. who gloriefy weapons, who produce or sell weapons. Germany is a rich country,it is not allowed to produce airplanes;thats good germany would sell starfighters.its already now the 3.biggest dealer for weapons."The death is a master from germany." The prosperity here is a prosperity where there sticks blood on it.

john I too believe that any law citizen should be allowed to have a gun but obviously once they can prove that they are capable to have one.
It appears that today too many crooks have weapons.
ok but here's what I think, it's not the average Joe that's causing problems or promoting to violence, it's the CRIMINAL with harmful actions...robbing, murdering and so on. I have had a gun for 3 yrs, brand new, never been shot, and I hope and pray I never have to, but just in case I'm prepared....always know one thing, the criminal will have a means of hurting you, be it gun, knife or whatever...but you can't say that an average law abiding citizen is a threat IMO
nokundi: true, just google ;child shot father........only the headlines from google
I Don't need to Google anything cause shootings happen in downtown Ohio a lot.
I also realize that kids can often get access to their parents guns if their parents don't show their responsibility of locking them away from their children and kids can also get a gun from one of their friends too.
SoonerGal: We ALL live in a dangerous place...but I do live alone in the country and was told by sheriff if I called it would take at least 45 minutes to get here, so yah I will protect myself
With respect, I do not think you should mention that anymore.
bodleing2: Some more dangerous than others...might be to do with the amount of firearms around...according to this list the United States is only slightly more peaceful than Angola...
the global peace index for USA would be much better if they would not start so many wars in other countries. The criteria is also made upon this. There are 24 criterias. Btw USA is on number 82 and somalia 153.

So much corruption in Detroit for so many years. Voters thought that an African American would be better, now he's doing time with some members of his family for corruption.
Is this the place where someone would go unarmed. Throwing flowers at them won't work.
