With lord over I mean trying to dictate their will over their partner.
I had this once happening and it is not nice to be in a situation like this when someone you love and care about (and I know that was mutual) didn't treat me with the same respect I treated him.

That's breaking the chains of assortative mating! Why should the rich only mate with the rich, the poor only breed with the poor and so on and so forth..? I am agree If women are financial stable they have opportunity/confidence to get out of such situation.
But it doesn't bother much for guys whether their wife/gf is bringing money home. here are some guys too who wants ugly, fat, old but rich Lady.

I do know people (who are from abroad) who have done just that. Then they divorce, but by that time they have got citizenship....and then go with who they then like.

Yeah many people did it in past and few are doing it now( but game has become harder). Many people also paid money to get married and citizenship.
