Biden won — so Trump seems to be attempting a coup. And meanwhile, this election has revealed just how bitterly, painfully divided America really is. The truth is that America’s undergoing what might better be called “social fracture” — it is a society that is badly broken as a society, as a group of people with shared values, especially modern and civilized ones. Trumpists — rural undereducated whites, but, and this is important to say, plenty of educated and rich ones too, don’t agree on the basic ends of democracy anymore. That everyone — everyone — should be equal in their pursuit of life, liberty, happiness. That maybe having healthcare and retirement and childcare and science and logic and education are necessary components of that pursuit. That maybe guns and religious law hinder that pursuit more than help it. This group of Americans will not agree with a modern, functioning democracy’s ends, never really have, and don’t appear capable of learning from anything, even mass death."

Bode: I think it goes deeper than the article suggests, there has been an underlying social breakdown for some decades, simmering below the surface, Trump merely acted as a catalyst and allowed this disenchanted mass to voice their dissatisfaction, he then cashed in on that unrest as a "Saviour," becoming a cult god if you will. Trump has done absolutely zero to try and reunite his country, indeed he has added fuel to a raging fire and exasperated an already divided and confused nation.
Like most cults, the members are typically the last ones to realise they have been used.

Is trump the real deal? He is far better than biden...who gas dementia and just a place holder for rolf harris to step on...in a few months...if the democraps get away with stealing the election....the far left agenda is ready and climate change greta is ready...depoluation and reductions in the carbon foot print...the gates deadly vaccine could be the answer and sheeples still asleep to it all

That's exactly right. I only posted a short extract, the first part from the beginning, the second part from towards the end. In between is very similar to what you've said.

It certainly touched on the lawlessness of this presidency where he can ride roughshod over the constitution, which is there to protect the citizens, and the gop let him, and his followers don't actually care. The mind boggles, but will have a read in morning.

American politics is immature and tribalistic and its based on money. the megarich control all political agenda and their puppets (Congress /White House) act purely on their behalf as they are elected with the support of the Super-PACs . Thats not democracy.

I dont think those two parties are going to change the "system".The ""differences" are manufactured by the political parties to keep themselves in power and away from third parties.

It is not a democracy. Showcracy at its best - loud, obnoxious, and fake. not entertaining.

But the all-knowledgeable trump cult will respond by saying the US is not a Democratic republic, disregarding all the wars the US has started to force other countries to become democracies lol.
Until America stops the lobbying, their political structure will never change. I still have hope that after 4 years of pathetic leadership by Trump and then another 4 years of similar poor leadership by Biden, a good and decent leader will emerge from the independent arena. Someone who can return American politics back to how it was originally intended, A country that works for the people by the people.

you hit two key points, and

a) the farce of selling "democracy" is a business (money supply -dollar needs new market mainly)
b)lobbying as a legal "force" I really hope they can manage it in the future

regarding bringing "country that works for the people by the people", I don't believe it will be possible soon; as it would require a revolution and the political education is not supported for that. Look the way Americans vote and

US is really only a one party system, and the show goes on for the mass.

You may well be correct, but I have faith that Americans will learn from their mistakes and make good again, but agree it will take time unless there is a civil war in the next 6 months of course, then all bets are off lol
