over the meny years there have been meny predictions of the end of the world, the latest one, and one that seams to be moor fear'd is dec 21,2012,
theres meny idea's of what will happen, some think that in the 1980's there was a discovery of a 10th planet in our system called planet x,some belive that the planet isnt in fact in our system but passes through every meny thousands of years causing a very bad effect, this planet as since been called nibiru,as it passes through our system its gravity will stop the earths rotation and then flip its axes sending oceans to relocate.
others think it will be a meteor, as others think it will be self harm and that the aluminarty or how ever u spel it have a plan that in order for the planet to recover and people to live here that 3 quarters of the people have to be, wel i will leave that up to your own thorts,
what do other people think of this, is it just people jumping the gun becouse the mayan calender only goes to 2012 so people think it means the end,or is it just another false prediction like when they said the year 2000 was going to be the end.
I don't believe it's the end of the world, just the end of it as we know it. The Mayan calendar was about the evolution of humans, and we've followed it very well. The end of one thing is the beginning of another, and it's my belief, and that of many who have spent most of their lives studying it, that we'll have a new cycle of evolution begin...a more spiritual one. That's what I believe. The collective human consciousness has been moving toward this so far, and I think we'll see it happen...those who can make it and thereby stick around for it.
Those who can't have already been leaving through things like cancer...notice the increase in death from this lately? Especially of those in their late 30's to 50's? I have...I've been surrounded by it for a couple of years.

JMO...but I'm not alone in it by any means.
Typical pagan.
Nope. Don't believe in it myself. Humanity has a rough time grasping the fact that life goes on, and on, and on...
the world can not go on like this. the poverty , the injustice ...the imbalance...will pull it down , and it is not some outerspace object that will do that..it is us , humans .. we had enough time to come to our senses , and we didn't , so the downfal is sure to come. 2115

If we were to believe the pessimism inherent in this Malthusian mindset, we would have all been dead long ago.
Necessity is the mother of invention.
When necessity forces us to do differently, we will. Until then, complacency and laziness will keep us from acting until we have to. But, IMO, when its necessary to act, we will.

Trust me, if we have a piece of rock the size of say a mountain (a cosmic pebble) then life on this planet will be exterminated by a fireball in the upper atmosphere.
The blaast wave will circle the globe, making sea levels rush inland at speeds smashing everything.
Assuming we dont all die immediately from the blast wave, survive the floodwaters we shall have to live through a five year nuclear winter.
Given sunlight will be blocked out, the food chain will collapse within a month and people that survive will starve to death.
All life as toy know it that is land based will die within a month.
And that is assuming the atmosphere doesn't combust, if that happens...well, this is then a dead planet.
And guess what, this is a statistical 100 per cent certainty!
The only future for mankind is migration to the stars.

Marseilles: That's 4 years by the way...Not 4 lesbos
that would be good for a new thread, things that u would do if it was going to happen,
one of the things i would do,is get the script writer of the austrailian soap nabours, tie him to a chair and just sit there for hours poking the bast*** in the eyes
Live each day as if it were your last, and don't worry about doomsday predictions until you can see the astroid or comet in the night sky above.
Besides, technically the world will not end no matter how dire the doomsday predictions... simply put, the world as we know it may change dramatically. Big difference that. This planet has survived truely cataclismic events in the past and it will survive even more in the future... of course, the dinosaur's didn't survive, and we may not survive the next one either. There'in lies a lesson to be learned.
What concerns me more is the probability of a sudden climate shift caused by any increase in volcanic activity... we humans have the planet's food supply stretched so very thin at this point because of our massive numbers. Anything that affects the climate world wide can potentially cause massive starvation... and yet that gal in California felt the need to give birth to Octuplets!
I believe it was 1811 that a volcanic chain erupted at the Atlantic mid-oceanic ridge near Greenland (an unknown geologic formation at that time, the ridge I mean) which caused it to snow in mid-July in the US "Heartland" that next summer... sometimes known as "1812 and Froze to Death". There were massive famine's caused by that volcanic eruption, and the human population was a mere fraction of what it is today. In Britain, the weather that summer was so very cold and wintery that Marry Shelly, cooped up in her summer vacation retreat by the blowing snow outside (in the middle of Summer no less!), wrote her famous "Frankenstein" novel. The French people were starving to death, and the Queen of France spouted off "Well let them eat cake!" and thus began the French Revolution! Crops failed all around the northern hemisphere that summer of 1812. (ps. I hope I have that date right).
Those who ignore history are bound to repeat it.

What is the significance of the Dec. 21, 2012 date in the Mayan calendar, or your intuitive sense of it as a Mayan priest. There was a program about it on the History channel, referring to the Doomsday in several cultures coinciding on this date. Is this a passage into a new way of life, rather than an end? What can you tell people about this fast-approaching date?
Nothing is going to happen in 2012. There is no Mayan prophecy about 2012. In addition to the Chol Qij the Mayans have various other calendar counts of lesser mantic importance. One of these is the Long Count, which is a continuous count in days since August 9th, 3114 BCE. The Long Count will reset to zero-zero-zero-zero-zero on December 21, 2012. But this is just a major calendar change – their equivalent of Y2K – with no more spiritual significance than the change of millenium had for us. This 2012 thing is being touted by some non-Mayans as a kind of New Age version of the Rapture: a miraculous transformation of human consciousness which sweeps humanity up into the clouds to escape the coming tribulation. But things don’t happen that way in real life. If there is a fundamental transformation in human consciousness, the way it will probably occur is that the environment and civilization will deteriorate over the next few decades. And then people will draw together and open their hearts to one another, as they do in the face of any natural catastrophe such as an earthquake or flood. When people lose their faith in the system and start listening to their own hearts is when the system will change. i did not write this, just qoting someone, but in other words just becuse the calender ends in 2012 people have put 2 and 2 together, this qote would make moor sence.
