celticblue05: My parents are from Ireland but I am an American citizen. I have traveled a great deal and I can say this...Americans in general are fat and completely ignorant. I was in Australia and the only fat people I saw were American tourists. I have seen Americans try and use US Dollars in nearly ever foriegn country Ihave been too. Many of the least educated Irish farmers I know are far more informed than even "educated" Americans. Dont get me wrong I love America, but being fat and ignorant is one bad thing about it.

I dont get it how this thread turn so nasty

Some of us were having a laugh but also a good debate..

Maybe the op and the other guy might have use better choiced words..but i see most on here attacking him and saying things that were not appropriate either..

So all of you were doing what you ask them not to do..

Go figure..

I talked to them nicely as they talked and respected me..

For god sakes if you cant come in and have good debate then do what the moderators ask.

STay the hell out of the thread if you dont like what the op or others are saying..

dunno

Martia: Oh my what an unpleasant thread....but then you being Irish you would have been used to living with conflict, It seems to have become a habit in your case.

Making a statment about War hungry folk I think you better clean up your own backyard first before making stupid statements like that.

As an Australian I find it very comforting that the USA is there for us as we are quite isolated and alone. Have you ever thought what would happen to the western world if they were not.

perhaps there would be peace,
i wonder how Hiroshima and nagasaki would be aswell

lonelycowboy101: Who realy cares what you think about Gun ownership in America . You Live a long way from here . I have been around the world and seen the reaction of people in other countries. it wasn't to long ago that Ireland was a killing field You want to talk about war mongering. Who was it saved your butts in world war one and world war two . many times the united states hast to go in and fight because the rest of the world is to scared to help . then they can say we are peaceful leting someone else do there dirty work . quote=kev147]When people in europe think of americans it can be one or the other,
the americans i have met through my life have been very friendly but uneducated on history outside of America,
this is due to their educational system,
as far as war hungry go's i think that go's without saying,
and i dont agree with most americans owning guns either

save our butts ?

I totally agree and yes maybe the word obese was wrong and offensive of me to use so for that i apologise,
but this was only meant to be a debate not america vs ireland which some people seem to think,
its a sad state of affairs when a simple discussion is beyond us

obese is not offensive at all..

better then say fat..

People need to start listening and stop attacking..

It dont matter if you dont like americans or US

each and everyone of us likes and dislikes alot of things..

There are people and things that i like about US and things i dont..

This is normal..

I dont give a flying hoot if they dont like canadians or our country.

Wouldnt bother me in the least..

We are different/that is what makes us unique..

I usually stay out of threads like these but just wanted to make a small comment or observation...

For a country that other's think are such bad influence-uneducated-greedy....well...the US is a big place, there are all kinds of people-depends on where you travel but I do know this for a country that can be cut down so easy, there sure are alot of foreigner's alway's trying to get in--to live-work-go to school and raise a family--so, must not be all that bad....
