ukrainegary48: i watch a show early off the Internet about hells angels in montreal. does canada not have a law where a person cant be tried again after being found innocent like the USA.
I dont think they would be tried again on the same crime if found innocent..
Now that you said this i am sure some are going to jump in and bring canada down..
but we are strong and can handle anything anyone has to say about Canada..
Give it ur best shot guys
Back in the 60's, I went on a Jeep trip with my Dad and two brothers up through Alberta, British Columbia, and the Yukon on the Alaskan Highway.
Very beautiful and wild country- we saw Grizzly bears, wolves, Moose and caught a lot of fish along the way. Camped out each night in a little canvass top trailer we pulled behind our 1957 Jeep CJ5.
I also have visited Montreal, Quebec.
The only disappointment I feel, is the lack of freedom Canadians have to arm themselves, and I think it is too bad Quebec chose to be French speaking. I just think Canada would be better off, in many ways, it it was not bi-lingual.
But that is just my opinion and that is just that.

kissmedeeply: i have to disagree on the arm thing..
I am so glad they have laws about guns..
Dont like them and dont want them around me..
I know.
I have read some of your previous posts on the topic. But when we have been in the Canadian or Alaskan wilderness and come face to face with a Grizzly, or when you are in Toronto and find yourself face to face with an armed burgler (baseball bat, Bowie knife, illegal gun), it is great to have a handgun to sort things out.
In the US and Australia, when someone goes insane, takes a gun and starts shooting innocent people, whether that is a church, school, restaurant, university campus, if more people were armed and carried and knew how to use firearms, there could be many lives saved.
The police around the world are great at investigating crimes and arresting the culprit, but they cannot be everywhere. Consequently they cannot protect you. That is up to each and every one of us.
This year, since Australia outlawed firearms, crime is way up. Up by about 15% I think. And the politicians are flummoxed. The bad guys are bold when they know most people are unarmed.
But they are more careful in the US, since they don't where or which house they break into might give them a gunshot wound.

I know but will take my chances in other ways to protect myself
lights: No, I did not serve during WWII.... I am not that old.
I just enjoy learning about history. I study all kinds of history from many perspectives.
That is why I can not accept your version of it.
I see...Your "version" is the only one that's correct,is that it? It sounds more like "opinion" to me. And just where did you receive your degree in History?

reelman90: Even with our problems, we're still the best damn country in the world. People die every day to get here. I haven't heard of any immigration problems to Taiwan. What a joke!
And who said average Americans were uneducated? Do I look Chinese to you? What a joke is right. Quick..what's the capital of Taiwan?..Do you know where Taiwan is Kentucky?...What's the capital of Canada?
ukrainegary48: i wonder how many times i have to say this. i live in Ukraine.ukraine and Russia are not the same country. get a map out maybe that will help.

I've lived in Manchester (known also as Madchester/Gunchester) most of my life, a lot of that time in the inner city areas. During that time I've had many run ins with undesirables. However I've never felt the need to be armed with any kind of weapon, it just doesnt work that way.

I am wondering why you jokingly refer to it as 'Gunchester' ?
Guns are outlawed in the UK correct?
So, in Manchester, are there a lot of illegal guns or something?
I have never had to pull a gun to defend myself yet either. But as they say, 'be prepared'. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
I don't have a crystal ball, and I don't know what the future holds. So I just try to be prepared. Like a good scout.
MrAngel: You may be more correct than I am,but I do try to keep an open mind since,as you and I both know, some of history's facts are somewhat interpretive and subject to perspective.Like you,I also have an interest in History, but also like you,it is an avocation of mine, not my field of study in particular.WW2 is a very interesting subject and I think we are both in agreement about that.

I wasnt joking, its called that for a good reason. Even though there are a large amount of illegal firearms around, but I would be more concerned about someone stealing my car or breaking into my property. Generally its the people carrying guns who are the ones that get shot. It is in fact extremely rare for a law abiding citizen to be a victim of gun crime. I suspect if guns were legal, that would not be the case.
