I wanted to post a link to "UNWANTED ATTENTION" thread as my reply to your question,
but it seems that the thread has finally been pulled.
The problem which makes such threads possible is still remain, soooo .... who needs this hassle with their photos?

I agree. I also agree with Scousedon, despite whether you think it's more important to know the person it's human nature to want to see what the person looks like.
I don't care what people say about personality. Yes someone can be a lovely sincere, genuine person with a good personality but there still has to be some physical attraction.
Why go on a dating site and not show your picture? Perhaps some of those who don't have one will enlighten us as to their reasons.

Doesn't bother me really, some people don't post them because of their work, but once you start talking to them will send them to you.

They took my photo down because they said I looked too much like Brad Pitt.

Everyone makes excuses but I can say this is the 20+ "singles" website that I have joined and the same thing tends to happen,
pictures or no pictures people just play games. the picture is not going to tell a person whether that other person is serious, honest... no...

same here .... i *rarely reply to those ppl who don't have a photo. one time i did, i found out later that the guy was married and he didn't want his wife or her relatives or his associates to recognize him in a dating site.

I don’t think it’s shallow to want to know what your contact looks like. I have my photo here, and I expect the same courtesy from my contacts. And I don’t want to know the reasons why they don’t have their picture here: they contact me mostly because of my picture, so let’s keep things equally, won’t we? What would be a reason for me to communicate with an empty square? It reminds of sending signals to an outer space, and so desperate I am not.
I don’t expect that there are lots of movie stars from Hollywood on this site, people here look like people everywhere. But I want see the face I’m writing to, otherwise...
