You should try going out to bars and clubs in your local singles scene and find almost 10 single women for every single man there and let me know if that doesn't depress you severely after awhile Navygirl!
I'm single never married no children have owned my home on acreage for over a decade, but now in my late 30's... I was told in the forums on the PoF (Plenty of Fish) dating site that I am not relationship material seeing as how I've never been married, like this is somehow my fault?!?!
I quit that site after that. It left me totally disgusted.

I think the birthrate is usually only slightly different, like 99.9 men to 100 women.
But men tend to die sooner.
So the excess is probably mostly older women.

You are not alone. Some people think we single people doesn't want to be with someone. I know I dont want to be alone especially on the holidays and special occassions but we have no choice.
Sometimes I'm thinking I did everything already to find that person and I don't know anymore what to do and where to find him. I joined almost all the dating sites, free and paying sites, dating service, and more or less I've met like 70 guys already, that's when I start looking on line. It's sad to think that you know how much you tried to find someone just like you, you asked your family and friends and still nothing. I also don't want to attend any family reunion or class reunion or christmas party because I know that I'm that they're just wondering why I can't find someone. It's okay if I have a bf to bring. I know how you feel, it's really frustrating especially if you know how much you tried. I always think about it every time I wake up in the morning if I ever met the right person.
Are you saying it's hard to meet single women in your area? Have you tried chatting on yahoo? Or try craigslist, I met some people there but also be careful.
But if you still have some single friends that you can go out with to meet women then you have more chance to find what you're looking for. I have mo single friends anymore here, all of them are married so I can't hang out by myself to meet men.

Actually it was a few individuals. When I was on POF, most of the men made me feel worthless or they would lead me to beleive they were interested and then stop communicating. Mind you the games the ladies were playing were the same there. I found it was a site for the younger people anyways, so no loss leaving there. I had several guys ask what was wrong with me as I had never been married. Guess it never occurred to them that when you are at sea for 10 out of 12 months; its hard to find a relationship. Now, its just an age factor. Being older its hard to meet anyone and that is just a fact of life. I found most of the forums of POF were rather cruel to others so never got involved with them personally. Ah, why does life have to be so complicated? Why can't we all just get along.

I am thinking you, me, and Michael should start a lonely hearts club. As I told Michael, we have to keep the dream alive. I have no single friends to hang with; like you they are all married. I have done volunteer work to fill the void and it keeps me from feeling lonely. I know its not the same as having someone in my arms but if I didn't I would sit at home and mope or worse yet reply on these forums. LOL I dearly hope the three of us can all find that certain someone.

Thanks I am flattered and that really means alot to me that you would even consider going out with me. Too bad this wasn't the world of Star Trek and we could beam out to meet someone. Its nice to know there are good caring people out there. It helps me keep my spirits up.

Yeah, we can cry on each other's shoulders. Just don't let it get you down. Life is too short and precious to be depressed. I find a good vacation really picks up my spirits especially by the ocean. I am even thinking of going on a cruise next year. Could meet some interesting people.

I went on a sailing cruse once. It was a Windjammer cruse. It was one of the best vacations I have ever been on. Too bad Windjammer went bankrupt or I would suggest you do this. Only 150 passengers on a 250 foot four masted schooner. Absolutely wonderful.

I am thinking more of a cruise ship where I can get pampered. A schooner sounds too much like sailing instead of cruising. I have done enough sailing.

"SIR" is our beautiful Marina....definitely not a guy!Her comments were spot on though, and she should know being of Russian descent. My own experience of working in Russia confirms her comments, though it is a beautiful country with wonderful people, despite the well documented problems.

Well you know some people are narrow minded, but people who knows me knew that I'm straight, but I don't want them to think that there's something wrong with me or I'm difficult that's why I can't find a man. I know some of them think of me also that I have high standard or I'm too picky even though I told them I'm not. And I don't want to just to get married just to be married.
