I grew up in a small town and hated it. I learned to hate cities just by visiting them. I am a country girl at heart and was never happy until I moved to the country. I now live in a location where 3 cars in a row is a traffic jam.
Horses and big dogs don't do well in town. In populated areas I can't sit on the porch at dawn and watch deer in my yard or in the pasture with the horses. In populated areas I can't go for long walks in the woods and watch the wildlife. In populated areas I can't sit undisturbed by a stream and while away the day reading.
l0tim0l: I grew up in the city and Now live in a small vilage.
I am curious to here people preferance and opinions on these different lifestyles.
I voted for village, i prefer living in a peacefull environment (iam like nature ). I wouldn't mind going to the city, get crazy among people and at the end of the day, back to my peacefull environment
any place where I do not have to constantly listen to ghetto, of any kind white or black, would be fine
I live in the city now and the ghetto speak & bling transcends race - just so no one will get the impression that my comment is racially motivated.
Also, though there are some nice things about my urban neighborhood, one issue I have is that people from the city tend to always talk too loud & be inconsiderate of their neighbors. I have lived here 10 years now & these are my observations - in comparison to the village and rural environments I have previously lived in.
I read most of your posts. What is it like to live in a "village"? It seems like everyone would know your business. I guess that's why I prefer the "capital city" option. What say you?
OneKitty: They all have their merits, so I can't vote. It is fun to mix it up a little bit now and again though! I was in a big/capital city for over 20 years and now live in a small-to-large town. It feels like much less in comparison, but it is also a well-deserved break from the hustle and bustle for a minute!
Agreed... but i prefer to live outside the city anyway

Generally , most people know what Everyone is up to. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. It's good to know who You can and can't trust.
Sometimes people talk so much about things that happen the facts get shadowed by peoples opinions and theories.
It is good to be able to go out somewhere and not have to worry about locking everything up. Because Everyone knows everyone it makes it harder to get away with a lot of things, therefor it makes it safer in a lot of ways.
No traffic jams... If You drive for 15 minutes You are miles away!!

I would love to live in a cottage (on it's own) by the sea or in the countryside, but within driving distance to a city so that I could still visit the cinema, theatre, evening classes etc If I had to choose, then it would be a cottage overlooking the ocean.
