The question has been asked, Do CS members in general not take Forum users seriously as potential dates, relationships etc.
What has been your experience?
Speaking for myself... any of the men who have shown an interest in me for dating or getting to know me has been from men who do not participate in the Forums, but then there are no male participants in my geographical area.

rwantin: I do participate in the forums AND have an upcoming date of sorts. Yes, there's the geography, but hey, life is short.
Is the date someone from the forums? I'm not being nosy... well yeah I guess I am, but that's kind of what I'm asking... do we socialize on the forums and search outside the forum for dates?
I sometimes wish one could easily differentiate between people who post here just to be social and say hello, how are you doing today, and those of us who are seriously interested in finding a mate.
There have been several women on here who I would gladly enter into a LTR including marriage but it is terribly difficult when they are 1,000's of miles away and worse yet, in another country. I wont even bother with anybody not within 300 miles of me unless she is really special to me and worth the extra effort and expense to explore a possible matchup.
I have also been turned down flat by women who I really thought would be perfect for me because of the distance factor alone.
Seems to be a question people are reluctant to answer J. I have met two guys that I first chatted to in the forums. Other than that the guys who contact me are not on them. One oof the things with int'l forum of course is the geography question, I prefer them to the Irish ones though because there is more chat going on,

Well ooby, distance is huge for me... the fact is I don't want to live in the US again, I like living on a little island away from all the insanity, at the same time I don't want to be responsible for someone uprooting their life and then things not working out... It is really difficult because there are a lot of people here on the forums that I like and respect... but geography is an issue.

Of course you don't have to answer...
Why, yes, it is.
Turns out, I am really close to Anaheim (Disney) and Minnie Mouse told me the other night that Mickey has turned into an incorrigible alcoholic.

Blending 2 lives is so much easier when you're 20 something, carefree and don't have a pot to P in than when you're middle aged and established both financially, by extended family and geographically.
It sounds like you have found your niche in this world.
Seriously though........I am here for whatever, I participate in forums happily.....as far as getting a date out of it.....it remains to be seen....my interests haven't exactly been met with equal intent....but I am a positive person with far more to offer than what has been understood by any so it may be just a matter of time, and a lot of thoughtful work!!!!!!!!
Heres to everybody who searches within, without, and gives everything no matter what the situation....good luck all..... be whole!!!!!

I love the forums. IT truly is such a fun, informed group of diverse people. For me, the people I chat with in the forums are kind of like the people I would run out of my office to have a quick chat with when I was working. You've all kind of filled that roll for me. Which is quite nice for me.

You can do both, at least I do. I like chatting on the forums with people all over the world, most wouldn't be potential dates. Someone doesn't have to be a love interest for me to enjoy talking to them.
I've met a few men from the site, most of the local ones haven't been on the forums, we've just contacted each other by messaging or flowers. And I met one was active in the forums at the time, that's how we got to talking, and I'm so glad we did, cause I'd never have sought out someone as far away as him, but we've had a wonderful relationship.

Hi jb distance is an issue for me too, have made some friendships here i value and would love to meet some off the people here. But alot of the men who contact me do not go in the forums, so guess i come on mainly for the social side. There is someone i wish was closer but
JB, there are lots of CS members who don't participate in the forums but who check out the postings (to one degree or another), and the ones I've corresponded with seem, by and large, to feel they have gleaned interesting information from watching people post.
The majority of CS members, however, apparently don't read the forums, so Zeus only knows what they think....

Jeff
Hi Jeff, is there a shopping cart in the background of your new picts? You're always so entertaining!!!
Personally I log on when I'm bored and have nothing else to do. That's not being negative though, I think it's the healthiest option and I often enjoy the times I'm here. I'm no longer seeking a partner, though that was the intention when I joined just under three years ago.
Generally, I believe we have a mixed bag here which makes it more interesting doesn't it?

No, JB. Sadly, I'm still working on my cardboard box. I found a really warm one - a wonderfully thick freezer shipping box - but the landlord wanted too much rent, so the search continues...
