It would be horrible if Palin won, but I think if she ran for president, it would mean Obama would win again for sure. Besides, if she did win she would be the first female president ever. But it would still be like gaining an inch, losing a mile.

Besides, the Republicans keep putting their feet in their mouths. They tok over the house claiming to want to stop the fiendish Obama from getting us into debt. There are so many things wrong with that premise that it's hard to decide where to begin.

First of all, where were all of these incredably concerned individuals when the Bush admin was destroying the economy in the first place, and why are they coming out of the woodwork when a Democrat gets elected? Second of all, watch their popularity plummet as thet try to wrench back health care and extended unemployment benefits while preserving tax breaks for the rich.

And why do they think shooting Democrats makes them look right? It's just another fine example of the logic in their minds.

And how can they explain Bush and Cheney's idiotic trumped up war and their mad dash to drill places like Alaska and the ocean floor for oil, no matter what the environmental cost? Gee whiz, Republicans, it kind of looks like they were trying to start a war for no good reason, so they could drill for oil in places where scientists told them it was not safe to drill. And what did that cost the voters? A lot of Americans lost their homes while our puppet president and his psychopathic side kick plonged the whole planet into economic chaosso they could win their precious right to drill on an ocean floor and cause an oil spill.

Emmons said in the first conversation, before being sworn in as mayor, Palin briefly touched on the subject of censorship.

But on Monday, Oct. 28, Emmons said Palin asked her outright if she could live with censorship of library books. This was during a weak when Palin was requesting resignations from all? the city's department heads as a way of expressing loyalty.

“This is different than a normal book-selection procedure or a book-challenge policy,” Emmons stressed Saturday. “She was asking me how I would deal with her saying a book can't be in the library.”

Monday Palin said in a written statement she was only trying to get aquatinted with her staff at the time. “Many issues were discussed, both rhetorical and realistic in nature,” Palin added.

Emmons recalled that the Oct. 28 conversation she pulled no punches with her response to the mayor.

“She asked me if I would object to censorship, and I replied 'Yup',” Emmons recounted Saturday. “And I told her it would not be just me. This was a constitutional question, and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) would get involved, too.”

Actually it does;

In response to: Palin notified Emmons she would be fired in January 1997 because the mayor didn't feel she had the librarian's "full support." Emmons was reinstated the next day after public outcry, according to newspaper reports at the time.

I have just as much right to discuss the up goming elections in the US as I have to discuss the corrupt President of a country much closer to your home. and unless you have suddenly become a moderator and banned it, freedom of speech that is, I suggest you take a running jump (no offence?)

FREEDOM OF SPEECH, hmmm.........

That's one of those cute little RIGHTS that the democrats and their liberal minions want to do away with under the guise of political correctness.

i am in agreeance of freedom of speech, until that speech intrudes of someone elses rights.

by calling you names and deriding you, perhaps even inciting violence to be committed against you, would you be ok with that?

Iuchi_Zien: Not enough space in the poll choices so written below,

#1 Noo! Please! Save us!
#2 Anybody that dumb should be barred from procreation as well as standing for public office.
#3 What's the problem? she's only slightly more stupid than George.W.
#4 She will make an excellent president, once she works out how to spell it!

1.What are the chances of Palin becoming the next president as a backlash against Obama?
2. If Palin is elected is it going to be possible to find an American, outside of the US who will admit to being American?
3. If Palin is elected how hard are the rest of the world is going to laugh?
4. If Palin is elected do you think the Russians will EVER stop laughing?

PS I've put this under current events, inspite of my personal opinion (not difficult to deduce) that Palin becoming President would actually be a comedy

1. Zero
2. She won't be elected.
3. Pretty damn hard.
4. No.

It would be a tragedy. How low can America sink? It is amazing, truly amazing that anyone with half a brain can imagine that person would be an appropriate presidential candidate.

i did not read this whole thread.
what did catch my eye, was mention
of banning mark twain books for use of the "n"
word.

i think it is silly.
the context is historical,
and if anything,
most of us have come a long way since then.

to pro bannees, i propose this.
we ban every book,
movie, or piece of music
that uses this word,
regardless of context.

or does this group also
have the power to tell us
when it is appropriate as well?

emmaline: it is the responsibility of the libraries association to have the final say on what books go into public libraries. not one individual.

so she should be going to the association, and if palin doesnt realise they are the the governing body, then surely this proves her incompetence even moreso.

by the way, this is not a left / right issue. i would be most alarmed if it were ANYONE even suggesting such

The banning of any book is wrong by any library. If there are controversial subjects then place an age limit to the access but don't just ban a book because of it's content. If you suspect someone of committing a crime after reading a book on the subject then get the evidence and prosecute.

Other wise it's let people see just how other people can and are. Then and only then will people start looking at their own moral standards and maybe just maybe start upping them some. Remember what one person's morals are is not the same as an others.

it was palin who asked the question 3 times of the librarian, then sacked her for not supporting palin, then reinstated her after public backlash.

but if she gets elected, just wait and watch

I high;y doubt she will ever make it past where she has been.

As to the other thing's Healthcare, GM , Astan. Well Is it good that the tax payers are going to be approximately 25 Billion out of pocket for the GM crap?

Healthcare what a joke I bet you still don't know what all is in that; that does not even relate to healthcare. Because I sure don't but trust me the bigger the bill the more money sucked from every person with nothing to show for it but lined pocket of the lobby.

Astan. Well let's see he did change direction there for the good highly doubt it. But negotiating with the Taliban to make it seem that things are rosy and paying them off sure has helped.

Every Administration has issues from the previous one. But when does he start to accept blame for his mistakes and admit them and then move on. Haven't seen that out of him yet. It's always an excuse and people want accountability.

yes, it was good for GM to get the bailout, and they have proved the success of this.

the health care bill, i disagree with you on that, and like as you say, you do not fully understand it, so its all pure speculation right?

things have turned in afghanistan, and if that makes our troops safer, then i'm all for it.

on the last issue, it seems you havnt heard this.

But while the president took responsibility for doing a poor job on a few issues, and said he wants to work with Republicans on matters such as energy, education and political ethics, he made clear that he does not regret passing the health-care overhaul that was a major factor in driving voter discontent

sure obama's a puppet, but there is such a wiff of repugnant desperation within hers, and has been proven many times over, she is plain and simply dumb.

sure, obama has put corporate interests up there, but usually to try to save jobs, whereas the republicans, they have an amazing track record of putting PERSONAL business interests before the good of the nAtion, even sending our children to war for it.
