Jihadmeathello: I doubt either. Our planet is made of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen mainly, the four most common compounds in the universe. Add that to being a pretty small planet, there is probably not enough resources here for them to care about when they can find the raw materials anywhere. That and they will expose themselves to new diseases and put them selves at risk if they come into contact with us. Similar to when the Europeans came to America and the Natives died by diseases in droves. Too much risk for not much. I am sure if they wanted something they would send drones to collect it.

Well, IMO, there are two reasons for starting a thread: either you know something, and want to spread it, or you want to learn about the subject from replies. Me, I am far too lazy to start, so I took the second option.

The question was asked about 15 years ago, and seems not to have been solved since that time. That slows the system. So is that a question of partly a lack of knowledge from the engineers of M$ ? The "back door" in Windows, yes - obviously M$ collects all info they can use for advertising - fully intentional. Of course it has backfired on them as it gives spammers a simple way to build up bot-nets that will obey their commands and send spam to lists of addresses. There are millions of users with no idea that their box is being abused for such purpose. Anti Virus programs call them root-kits...
MS-DOS may have been a quick copy paste from CP/M with a change of error texts in it, and that made up the 20% difference. It also started them off on the IBM PC, but was replaced since WinXP, IIRC. Windows itself is original code, I assume, although they did look at elements of previous graphical OSs, to see how it should be done. They did get a lot of it right too, but not all - that`s all the annoying parts.

Makes perfect sense. Even the asteroid belt could be a good source of raw materials, and no mining claims on it yet. We use robots too, like the Voyager probes and Mars Rovers for places that are too dangerous for humans or take too long to get to.
We also use them to build cars and computers, putting millions out of work. In fact, the ultimate goal of civilisation would be robots doing all our work, while we can take our time to collect information, tweak the system for efficiency, or just play in the sun and surf. It is closer than a lot of people realise. We just have to learn to live without money, in a Resource Based Economy. The planet belongs to all humans, not just the few who fence it off to charge us rent for it.

Nah, I think this pic is a painting - I found it on a site that talked about exopolitics, though they didn`t claim any rights when I asked them in an email if I could use it on my own site. So I named it that, to show its origin.

If you mean Mars - we already have two Rovers there, though the Surveyor satellites will show larger areas. Maybe the next Rover will be dropped in one of these, to get a closer look - but then again - would "they" tell us about that? NASA is known to airbrush out structures on the Moon surface to avoid having to explain them.

See, I did say it`s not boring to live in our times.
If it were a photograph of a human, I would probably wonder about a disease too, but it looks more like a painting to me. Or maybe a scaly skin, partly reptilian, like birds, which are descendants of dinosaurs - but life is life, we have to take it as it comes. I also doubt that many aliens would pose for a portrait - if they can still sit after being dissected by our "scientists". Most will be dead after a sidewinder hit on their ship, or after the resulting crash.
I am sure they wouldn`t mind giving us a summary of their DNA or whatever, if we could only ask them nicely.

Could very well be Bo...theres been a definate increase in activity, and I think crop circles are trying to tell us something important. Its like we are being sent messages about us or the planet and we are too busy ridiculing them rather than decifering them. Whatever it is, its going to have huge impact on the human race. They have no hangups with money, religion or politics, they`re just watching us out of interest, wondering whether we make it or wipe ourselves out. More or less as we watch a show of Gladiators or Footie. This is on a planetary scale, so much more fun to figure.
Obviously in the meantime they won`t be "caught dead" talking to us - and sit comfortably in their bases on the Moon.
Mars is another interesting subject. Some areas show distinct patterns of cities and other ruins, as seen by both NASA and also the ESA. Should be easy to find. They could have been built by other aliens from long ago, or perhaps even by our own ancestors. Atlantis was supposed to have been very advanced in technology.
